I am interested in purchasing this subcompact for my wife. She has small hands. I currently have a Glock 26 Gen 4. With the Glock 26 she has to turn her hand on the grip to reach the trigger properly, thus, hindering her accuracy. I found a new M&P subcompact 12+1 here in my home town. The problem I have is they have a trigger lock in the display model so we can't check to see if it fits her better. I have tried to find dimensions online but haven't had much luck. The only thing I can find is that the Glock 26 is 72mm from the back of the backstrap to the top of the trigger where it meets the gun. I was hoping someone could help with the dimension comparison between these two models.

Thank you in advance,
Jim

I can't help with the exact dimensions. I use the large backstrap. All I can say is the Smith has a much shorter reach than my Glock.

Not what you're asking about, but have you considered a Glock 43, or similar single-stack pistol? It may be a better fit than a subcompact double-stack gun. Just a thought. Apologies if I'm out of line here.

I carry the m&p 2.0 subcompact as my edc. And while I dont have a g26 for comparison, I do have a gen 5 g19.
Imo, the m&p has much superior ergonomics which makes the trigger reach more natural and comfortable. It almost feels like I have to contort my trigger finger to get a good trigger pull with my Glock. That coupled with the fact that you can install the small back strap on the 2.0 making it an easy grip for any woman I know, or have known. I am wholly confident that you could find the right back strap to make the m&p an excellent fit for your wife. Mine has been 100% reliable so far with standard pressure, +P, and +P+ ammo ran through it. I know this isn't the exact info you were seeking, but hopefully it gives some perspective.

This is and the other replies are exactly what I am needing. I would still appreciate any other helpful replies.

Thank you,
Jim

If she has small hands you may be better served by a Shield,aShield EZ, a Sig 365 or a Springfield Hellcat. All of these have a smaller girth which makes for a shorter reach to the trigger.

Perfectly said

The .380 EZ Shield is very close to the M&P 2.0 measurement in pic above. I personally did not like the grip texture on the M&P 9mm 2.0 version. You may want to have her check that as well.

Is she going to conceal carry it? If so the Shield is thinner and less bulky if carried in her purse.

My wife has small hands and carpal tunnel in both wrists. She says her 9mm Shield fits her hands and says it is her favorite gun.

Shsield may be easy to hold for small hands. But is notorious for being hard to rack for many women and men with weak or arthritic hands. Also known be be difficult to load the last round into the mag until the mag springs break in some.

9mm shield EZ may be the way to go if she can conceal the slightly larger EZ.
