M&P 9C Trigger Reset?

Recently obtained a M&P 9 compact. While dry firing, I notice there is very little trigger reset. Nothing heard and very little felt. I own 2 other M&P's--Shield and .45 full size.
Both of my other M&P's have great trigger reset.
Any ideas as to what could be different with the 9C? All 3 are completely stock.

Probably still has the older "S" trigger bar and the older slide stop.

Replacing these two parts with the "H" trigger bar and the reinforced slide stop will give a more distinct reset.

Has the "H" trigger bar, unsure about side stop. Any easy was to tell the difference?

There are small "bumps" on the part that the trigger bar slides against. You can see them here:

My 2013's (FS and compact) came with the S bar. I replaced them with the H, swapped out the slide stops and even put the performance center sear in the compact. Still not like the reset in some others I have but way better than before.

I have an older 9c, 2012 version. It has virtually no heard or felt reset. Sorta gritty trigger that, for me, is a tack driver. This drives instructors in general and Glock people in particular crazy.

But not me. I never learned to shoot with a gun that has a heard or felt reset, and until recently I didn't know it was important. Silly me. Somehow I get by without the reset thing. Go figure. I am new at this, having started shooting in 1956. Maybe I'll get it eventually.

I started shooting DA revolvers double action only about 1970. I bought my first M&P in 2009, figuring 12 rounds would be better than six in a defensive situation. I was so thrilled with the speed and accuracy that I bought a 9FS for home defense.

I registered with this forum in 2012. I was baffled when I found out that my pistols didn't shoot low-left and the trigger was supposed to have both a tactile and audible reset loud enough to hear through my muffs between shots.

I now know that I should have bought a Glock and should counsel my wife and daughter to sell their M&P's and do the same.

I too find the insistence on a loud felt reset to be a little overblown. I think it stems back to Glock shooters trying to explain why their guns have "great triggers". The fact is that I haven't found a single make or model of stock polymer striker gun that has a "great" trigger. The absence of a reset alone doesn't make it a bad trigger anymore than a positive reset makes it a great one. But I digress.

Triggers on the M&Ps are not consistent from one gun to the next. I'm guessing it happens due to the softness of the loop in the trigger bar along with the variances / tolerances in the sears, frames, and trigger parts. My PC gun has literally no discernible reset point, even with a RAM installed. My VTAC has a noticeable reset (but the trigger pull otherwise is heavy and gritty). I'll take my PC's trigger pull over that of my VTAC's any day.

moxie, Michigan Scott - I'm a slow old man - need to use simple English - had to read the posts several times - recently got a 9C and a 40C and thought I was really screwin up. All my life on S&W 41s and Colt NMs (and Karts) so all this resettin and such is real confusin. Guess if I aim, squeeze, and hit it, must be doin somethin right? Sound OK?

Hittin' it is what counts. All the clickety clack and such is just so much folderol, at least for me. If clickin' and clackin' help somebody hit the target...terrific! But it's Occam's razor for me.

I know the feeling, as well. But older M&P's do have almost no discernible trigger reset. Even an old GI 1911 has somewhat of a reset, ya know. So while M&P's are pretty soft in the reset department, old or new can be tuned up to do so, if you want.
That is the major reason S&W changed the trigger in the M&P to the "H" configuration. And any older M&P can be upgraded to the "H" configuration, If you can get the following parts(And that's becoming hard to do, as S&W has started to restrict parts sales!); An "H" trigger system, a "Speed Bump" slide lock bar, and either a S&W performance Center sear, or an APEX sear.
Take gun apart, replace said parts, and off you go. A better reset, but still not the "Clack" of a Glock. More so like a good 1911. Which is what I prefer.
Fact is, if you know how, you can make an older M&P have a better reset with nothing more than the "Speed Bump" slide lock bar. It is pretty easy to do. And fact be known, a person can do it using no new parts at all. Has to do with how the trigger bar rides in the frame.

My 1980 vintage Colt Commander has NO discernible reset...at all. And I'm glad. I think it's a pretty good 1911.

My older M&P doesn't have almost no discernible reset. It has NO discernible reset. And I'm glad.
