The rounds are not getting past the follower, and yes the follower is getting stuck and rounds are then left loose atop the follower, inducing a fail to feed malfunction. As far as the first poster, I would assume that he/she has switched the mag release to the other side, as I have only seen this malfunction with the mags occur in this situation. I have seen several other posters with this problem, all of whom are lefties that have switched the mag release to the right side of the pistol. According to the S&W rep that I have corresponded with, it is a follower/mag issue, not a pistol issue. The fix is to obtain gen 1 followers and install them in the mags. Additionally, I would suggest anyone who buys the 9mm full size check which springs are installed in their mags. When I was trying to figure out the problem with my fail to feed malfunctions/mag problems, I brought the mags into my gun dealer and we took them apart. All of my full size 9mm mags had 9mm compact springs in them, from the factory. Obviously this would be a quality control issue on S&W's part.
