Its a used gun I have tried on multiple times to get S&W to help me with gun but will not because I got the gun second hand this Is why I have took it to ever gun Smith I could find the all told me barrel is shot out so I must get a new barrel I just want to now where to get good barrels. As one must upgrade m&p any how to make it any good I wanted to get a better them stock barrels

Try Wilson Combat for a new barrel. I wasn't happy with my CORE's accuracy. I swapped an APEX trigger. Helped a little. Tried a Storm Lake barrel, still not good enough. Bought the Wilson, will try it out in a month or two.

How accurate do you expect the gun to be, and how much are you willing to pay to get it there?

Am geting 8inch groups at 10 yards I was think half of that would be more ideal like I said ii have had gun Smith's look at and shoot it and I been told barrel shot out. One smith put in a gun vice and tried like 10 different kind of ammo at 25 yards and was getting 12 to 15inch groups so I now its not me
And as am still new to hand guns the accuracy people told me to except kind of horrifies me this 5inch groups at ten yards just seems crazy for a defense gun

Get an Apex gunsmith fit barrel and have one of your smiths install it. M&P Barrels (your next upgrade should be an Apex trigger kit) :D

Those who have upgraded their factory M&P barrels to a more accurate barrel or a threaded barrel may be willing to sell you their OEM barrel. You should set the condition that it only has a few hundred rounds through it. Almost all OEM barrels (95+%) should shoot 4" groups easily with good ammo. That cost would probably be $100-125. You could post on the For Sale/Buy portion of this or other boards for a person willing to sell their factory barrel. You might want to ask for a 15-day inspection guarantee in case the seller is trying to unload a bad barrel, you could return it.

Buying any new aftermarket drop-in barrel up to about $225 from gun parts suppliers will get you the same or slightly better accuracy than a good OEM barrel. For some extra $$ you could buy an extended (threaded) barrel which could also improve accuracy. You could mount a suppessor on such a barrel.

Buying an Apex gunsmith fit barrel will cost you more like $300+ with the custom installation by your own local 'smith. You can expect to cut your average OEM barrel group size or drop-in aftermarket barrel (rested) in half.

This is how this last barrel can shoot, rested @ 10 yards when it is properly fitted. BTW, Apex charged almost double to do the fitting compared to a local g'smith, but their results are evident.

Another option might be trade it towards a Canik. Great trigger and great accuracy and can be found brand new for around $350.

So I got a hold of the guy who sold me the gun he got in 2011 and said he tried to shoot and hand nothing but trouble with it and accuracy issues up the butt he put 5k to 8k worth of rounds thru it think it was him who had the problem but after 2 yrs he just locked gun up because it junk no wonder why I got it it for 150

A shot out barrel isn't a warranty issue. And the $150 price for the gun was too good to be true, so...

So, let me clarify for you:

You bought a well used gun that was about four years old without checking out its condition and paid a cheap price that indicated something was wrong.

You were unhappy with the lack of accuracy with the gun so you paid three different gunsmiths to tell you the barrel was shot out and needed to be replaced, but you didn't replace it.

You contacted S&W Customer Service and told them you had a well used gun (or they figured it out from the serial number and your description of the accuracy problem) and you were not entitled to warranty service.

You came here complaining and received great advice and even links from members of this board on how to correct your problem for about $100.

And now you say you are unhappy with S&W accuracy and customer service, and you are sad you spent a year unable to carry this inaccurate gun, when in reality you've known all along what you bought and what you needed to do to fix it? Now you are going to try to sell it with a shot out barrel?

You, sir, have more problems than your gun.

Not obvious to the OP, it seems. But obvious to many the OP has missed that train.....

And the chickens have come home to roost.........

If you are in my state I will stop by and give you the 150 for it and buy you lunch gladly. Ain't hard to get a new barrel fitted and new springs for it and still be well under the costs for a new M&P.

Agreed. Even though my wife said no more guns for a while, even she couldn't argue with that price and a new barrel to start. It'll still be less than new...

I won't comment on your "customer service is ****ty" comment because I know you typed it in frustration. But, as icemn pointed out...a shot out barrel isn't a warranty issue, it's normal wear and tear from what sounds like many many many thousands of rounds shot through it. Guns do wear out.

I'd buy the barrel for $73.99 I posted a link to, you'd still only have about $225 into your M&P!

All gun smiths say they can't do any thing and I keep finding info on how bad m&p accuracy is so I think I better off saleing it and moving on to a different brand of gun
