I recently started competing in a local Steel Match with my M&P 9mm Performance Center Ported Barrel and I feel that a trigger upgrade is necessary to lower the trigger pull which will enhance my shooting performance. I was informed that I should buy two Apex kits for this purpose.

1) Replace the factory trigger with an Apex Flat-Faced Forward Set Sear and Trigger Kit (Item #100-054) which reduces trigger pre-travel and over-travel.

2) Use of the Apex Competition Spring Kit (Item #100-065) will further reduce trigger weight by approximately 2.0 lbs.

Has anyone of you upgraded your 9mm PC using these Apex kits? Please share your insights or experiences good or bad.

I need feedback please. Thank you very much.

Apex stuff is all top quality. I have both kits across four different guns and can tell you that for me I actually shoot my M&P's with the competition kit better than the M&P's with the flat face kit. The competition kit has a lighter trigger pull but I have read here that if you use the stock trigger spring with the flat face kit it drops the pull weight. I will be trading the springs to see how the work. The flat face kit does have greatly reduced take up and a short reset so based on those they should be faster to shoot.

Thank you so much hd-dude.

Yes, I also read the post regarding the use of the stock trigger spring with the flat face kit which will drop the pull weight. Also to use the Apex Competition Spring kit to further reduce trigger weight by approximately 2.0 lbs (based on a starting trigger pull weight of 7.0 to 8.0 lbs).

So, which M&P did you have the Apex Flat-Faced Forward Set Sear and Trigger Kit installed? What was your first impression after the installation? i.e. trigger pull weight, etc.

The first was my shield, it has the duty carry kit so I wasn't expecting low pull weight on it. I was very impressed with the minimal take up and short reset. Then I did my pro series 9 and the performance center .40. I listed my pull weights in the other thread and will be changing to the stock trigger spring to see what that gets me soon.

Great! I will be using the stock trigger spring too and hoping to have a 3.5 trigger pull on my 9mm PC.
