I own both two M&P40's and with the cost of ammo being what it is, I was wondering if swapping to a 9m barrel for either my standard or my sub compact is an option?

If possible is that all there is to it? Just order a new 9m barrel (or two)?
Anything I'm missing here?
Thanks in advance.

No...Top end is caliber specific, you could however get if you could find one a .357Sig bbl for the .40 M&P...they interchange, and use same mags.

The breachface width is different and the ejector probably is as well, but I haven't compared them. So no, it won't work.

You can't just put the 9mm factory barrel in the 40 and it work but there are 9mm conversion barrels on the market for this purpose. Storm Lake makes a conversion barrel, it's a stainless barrel built to match specs. The breechface on the 40 is wider so the conversion barrel is made to fit the wider breechface. There is a possibility of an ocassional failure to extract so I wouldn't use it for a defense gun but for practice or plinking it'll work fine and you'll recover the cost of the barrel in ammo savings. Just in case you were wondering, we do have these in stock

Thanks Kend,
That is what I was looking for. Any problems with feed or ejection?

Is this strictly for the duty 4 1/4" or does Storm Lake make conversions for the compact ?
