My GF's son has two G branded pistols, one in .40 and another in 9mm and when he saw my .40 M&P 2.0 his mom's place with the frame safety remarked he'd like to try it out.

So the next week when we went to the range I let him shoot my M&P. Well he brought a few hundred .40 rounds and guess what? Almost all of the ammo he brought went through the M&P.

Now it seems as if he's changed brand preference and is going to find a M&P for himself... go figure :-)

Ha!

That's right i have a Schlock 23, 19 and 19X. The 19X is special Schlock. However the 23 and 19 are "Throwaways."

That being said +1 on the M&P 2.0 40 Compact/4" barrel (and i have the same in 9). This is a very underrated pistol. Far, far superior to my 23. Don't understand why less love for S&W 2.0s. All any Schlock owner has to do is hold, carry and shoot the M&P and they will never go back. IMO.

I absolutely understand why he would do that. After shooting my m&p40 m2.0, I became a believer in Smith and in .40S&W. I only have one G gun and that's only because my boss wanted to build some p80s, so I built a G35. I still prefer my Smith's any day if the week.

Having owned all sorts of pistols, including some plastic ones w/o a safety, I do not think a safety is absolutely necessary.

One of the four absolute laws of gun handling covers a lot of ground.

Here's how I navigate handling and using guns w/o a safety:

Keep this digit away from the trigger until you are ready to use it...

I bought my first S&W (6904) about 34 years ago when my then girlfriend (now +1 for 33 years) wanted a gun for her protection. I have carried many different duty weapons over the years and can say that I have every confidence in the M&P was well as any Smith. I absolutely love the Metal 2.0 but a little frustrated that they keep improving it. I am a civil servant and don't make the kind of money that I would need to keep up will all of the improvements, DANG THEM.

HOWEVER, if they made a FPC in 45, I might have to go crazy and get a pair, M&P/FPC 45. I am really hoping that they make a Metal 45.

Carried a Glock and they are good guns, just not my taste.

LEO Trade In M&P40 2.0's for under $300 at AOM Surplus currently...:D

Cheers!

P.S. Pick up a 357 SIG & 9mm conversion barrels and you can have the Best of Three Worlds!!!
