1908 is a long time ago and it appears that after servicing your grandfather and then you dad for decades, it got a refinish and new set of post-WWII Magna stocks. S&Ws of that era had a high polish blue finish and it appears that your revolver saw no use or abuse after refinish. Stocks in 1908 would have been round-top walnut with a concave (dished) top round. I also see a blued mushroom knob, which was case hardened finish when that gun was made. Your job is to maintain the heirloom, generate documentation for future generations to appreciate its history.
