I'm thinking of getting an M&P C.O.R.E. 5" 9mm pistol. Any thoughts on the trigger, accuracy, and over all function? I'm willing to pay for quality upgrades, but not sure if weapons like Kimber Raptor 9mm, WC-Beretta 92 Brigadier, or other semi-custom pistols are worth the extra bucks. Thoughts?

They are worth the extra $$$ IF those upgrades interest you. WC uses high quality parts and they know gunsmithing but I have no interest in Beretta so to me its not worth it

I bought one last year. The trigger is very usable out of the box for range use but if your competing ( or just spoiled), your going to want to do an apex job. I do like mine allot although I have to say that the novelty of shooting an optic wears off unless your speed shooting at steel. Accuracy is decent but not up to my S&W, Sig or Springfield 1911's in 9mm. As cokl as the CORE is, it sits in the safe allot more than I thought.

Aside from the optic milling and tall sights, the CORE is the same gun as the Pro 5", which has better FO sights. CORE if you want optics, Pro if you don't.

I had my local dealer order a CORE for me and it came with an unacceptably heavy trigger pull, much much heavier than my Pro, so I put an Apex unit in it, Huge improvement. Then I stumbled across a Walther Q5 - great trigger and it consistently shoots better groups that either M&P.

It's a good pistol if you wish to play with the red dot world. I've got one on mine and am enjoying getting to use it. For fast combat style shooting, the red dot is the way to go. For tight group target punching, stick with standard sights.

I put an APEX trigger in mine that made a huge improvement and recently I dropped in a threaded match Storm Lake barrel so I could use my suppressor. Fun.

I was looking at this and I decided to go with the 5" S&W Pro series instead.
