M&P CORE Slide

I have a standard M&P 40. Is it possible to simply replace the slide with a CORE slide to get the benefits of a red dot for plates, etc. without having my slide drilled?

All full size slides will interchange. I have a non Core slide that I put on my Core lower when I want to shoot USPSA Limited or IDPA ESP. (and another stock 9mm for production classes) Good luck finding a slide though.

They won't even sell a barrel. I think the reasoning is that they want to sell complete pistols and not parts. I they want to sell you a Core rather than a slide so you can convert your other pistol. I see slides at Midway and Brownells, but I've never seen them in stock (maybe they are available, I got my extra non Core slide from a member here). I guess the quick answer is "Yes, you can put a Core slide on any FS lower, if you can find one." Also, it doesn't matter which length slide you get, the lower is the same for the 4.25" or 5"
