I picked up a FS 9 the day after Christmas, it had the gritty trigger I had read about on here so I headed off to the range a couple of times and put 700 rounds through it. It smoothed out some but was still not what I wanted it to be. I will be the first to say I am a bad shot as both my wife and 12 year old son shot better than I do. My groups were low and left but as I read on here that most likely is my doing. So off it went to S&W to check out the trigger and while there I asked to have the accuracy checked.

Two weeks to the day from when it left I had it back so off to the range I went. The trigger is much better and the note in the box stated the accuracy was with in spec so I am good with that as I will never be a comp shooter.

So last night I put 10 rounds through it to get a feel for the new trigger and then did a fresh target, I put 5 out at 7 yards and 5 out at 10 yards. I am still low a little but much better and they are now in the center (for me anyway). I ended up putting 115 rounds through it last night and got even better as the night went on. Please remember when you see the target I am a poor shot.

All ammo has been Federal 115 FMJ

I too shot a little low with my new M&P. I took it home and polished up some parts and now the trigger is much less gritty. After putting 200 rounds down range I can hit dead center at 12 yards. I was thinking about sending it in for night sights and an adjustment but I figured its not worth waiting or messing up the accuracy.

what did smith and wesson do to the trigger? my 9 full size had a gritty trigger. i dry fired it ALOT and put 250 through it so far. smoothed out a lot. curious how S&W handled it?

From what I can see they polished the trigger bar where it contacts the striker block and the striker block used to have a "catch" in it if you pushed on it towards the edge. That catch is now gone also. Other than the 700 rounds I put through it I also sat and dry fired it a lot and it was better but still not real good. It is much better now, I had been looking at some Apex parts and some diy stuff but it is so good now I am sticking with it the way it is.
