You can take the pin and lightly (upset) some metal on it.
That will keep it in place.
To do this I have taken pins and lightly squeezed them with
a vice grip plier. This makes the pin slightly out of round and
that causes resistance when the pin is in place. You can do
the same thing with a set of side cutters and if you have hard
wire strippers they can score the pin.
Go lightly.
