yesterday at the range my buddies m&p 40c had a ftf and then the slide wouldn't budge,completely locked up. It was his first time shooting wolf through it, I know thats crap ammo, but still very odd. He left it with the the gunsmith, who said it's fairly common? Has this happened to anyone, if so what the heck caused it?

Wolf ammo caused it..tell your buddy to use good ammo.
I have seen this several times on the range. For reasons that I don't fully understand, some guns will stick cartridges in the chamber with Wolf ammunition, and the case has to be driven out. Others shoot it with no problem.
I think it is safe to say your gun has told you that it is one that does not like the Wolf.
