I took my a-few-weeks-old M&P M2.0 5" 9mm CORE out for some shooting today. We put a few hundred rounds of Remington 9mm 115gr through it today, it probably has had no more than 500 rounds total. Towards the end of the shooting occasionally the trigger was just dead, the trigger pull resulted in nothing, there was no resistance where there should've been and it wouldn't fire. Release, press again, nothing. Manually cycle the slide same thing. Not a light primer striker, just nothing. Eventually it was always dead. Anyone have any idea what's going on? It was laying on a tarp exposed to the bright sun so it got pretty hot. I hope that wouldn't have caused anything. Could it have gotten so dirty that it would've failed like that? I'll contact S&W.

I doubt heat or the pistol being dirty had a bearing on the issue.
Sounds like your trigger return spring weakened then failed.
I'd check that first.
