Sam,
I use nail polish on my guns.. Prep is the most important thing here..
Clean the area that is to be colored filled with 91% rubbing alcohol first to remove all oils.. Let it dry ! When applying the polish use 2-3 THIN coats, allowing to dry(15 minutes or so)between coats.. I will usually let the final coat dry overnight.. Then to remove excess nail polish, use non-acetone nail polish remover ONLY.. Regular acetone remover will mess up the bluing.. I use a small section of paper towel and short strokes to start removing the excess polish.. Keep turning the paper towel to a clean spot, as the polish will smear if you don't.. Go light, and keep dipping in remover until all the excess is gone and just the filled letters remain.. Let it dry well, then a little gun cleaner of your choice to get any residue left over and your done !! Pretty easy, for ALOT of result !! Model paint also works, but I have yet to try that.. I only do white nail polish on my guns and any that I have done for others.. Have fun !

FDE 9c

Took my brand new 9c to the range on Saturday, ran 200 rds and I couldn't miss. I put several rounds thru the same hole on follow-up shots. Nice trigger too! Also can't leave things well enough alone and color filled the stampings in FDE.

A few of my shield 9 and some tinkering that's been done with it. Great little gun.
(Apologies for the huge pictures. Posted them with the tapatalk app for the first time)

Nice choice on a knife, I just got the same one, no pics though. :) - I also already managed to scratch the finish lightly while sharpening it since it doesn't come that sharp from the factory. Any idea the best way to remove scratches? I used a pencil eraser to get rid of the bulk of it, but I know they make certain oils to do the rest of the work. If anyone has some advice it would be appreciated.

Anyway, here's my M&P Shield 40. I just picked it up about a month ago. Did the coloring on the slide, installed TRUGLO TFO sights, rubberized Talon Gun Grip, LaserMax trigger guard laser, and swapped out the stock floorplates on the 6 round magazine for Pearce extensions. I'm not a fan of the 7 round magazine, although I'll hold onto it for the range. I have another 6 round mag on the way and a couple of the Pearce extensions already here so I can swap out the floorplates as they arrive.

Will need to take more pics soon. Thinking about installing the Apex trigger (Just the trigger right now, maybe the whole kit soon). After that I'll take a break for a bit, buy a few more mags, and then hopefully get a chance to send the slide off to get the rear serrations cut more aggressively and perhaps have serrations added to the top of the slide, rear half. Don't think I'll add any forward of the breech, but we'll see. In case anyone is wondering, bag is a Midway USA Competition Range Bag. It's the best Range Bag I've ever had, and that just came too.

I wouldn't worry much about the finish, the way it rides in the pocket, you're sure to beat it up a bit. Also, the bigger thing you'll have to worry about is that dumb clip. The set screws back out after its been worn in. I have to tighten mine at least once a week now. I'll try some thread locker on them, but man it gets annoying.
