I have discovered that I really like the look of M&P revolver, especially the long tube, but do not get me wrong I do enjoy the shorties. Here is my 2; the first one is from 1947 and 6.5" and the other is from the mid 50's and 5". Now I am going to need to get a pre-war. Please post your examples. 20200906_090419.jpg

It's just possible that I have a somewhat excessive number of M&Ps...Here's some pictures of some of my favorites:

(This one was owned by a policeman who had the sights modified, and the back strap checkered)

(This one has spent some time in the service department)

(This one shipped straight to an individual, still digging into trying to sort out the history here)

(This one is special, but I'll leave the spotting of just why to you guys for the sport of it)

Here's the innards of this modified gun:

Here's a video of the action, compared to my other long action it's very different:

Still trying to figure out what these initials mean:

(This gun shipped to the Dorchester PD (Boston), and was owned by a State Trooper)

(This is a 2" that never shipped, it went out in a Federal Labs salesman's kit)

(This one shipped to the San Francisco PD in 1907 and at some point D.W. King upgraded the sights on it)

(Here's a 1902 that was snubbified)

I chose to post this one for a couple reasons ...

1) I got a great deal on it. It was listed on Gun Broker , little action on the auction because of rust spots. I thought it looked like superficial rust , like it had been wet once. Called the seller - a cop in a small town Oklahoma department. He told me that the revolver was from an evidence lock-up and agreed with my rust assessment. Got it for $238 and easily Flitzed it into the condition shown.

2) Best stock trigger I've ever experienced.

A straight-forward , meat and potatoes keeper.

Not rare but a bit unusual. 5" round butt shipped in 1917, just a couple scuffs but otherwise in great shape.

Absolutely stunning! I truly had no idea round butts were a thing back that early in the M&P history. I love the look of this. I am going to try to set up my Model 66 in a similar manner. I'd love to find a nice set of walnut grips like that. Most of them I've found that are the semicircular design on top are very worn looking.

It occurs to me that may be guilty of a technical foul - the "M&P I posted is actually a model 10.

I humbly submit a nice sort-of matched pair of early M&Ps , a 1902 & a 1905 , each from the first few years of production of those models.

With my apologies.
