38 M&P, So Many Red Flags

I suspect a refinish also.
The sharp edges just aren't there in a lot of places.

The Made in USA.. marking looks polished thin. Though they can be lightly imprinted at times, that usually shows as a somewhat uneven marking on one side of the entire mark or starting from a corner. Not individual letters and groups of letters in areas within the marking. That appears to be spot polishing chasing after some pitting in that area.
The cylinder lug on the LH side of the frame is rounded over as if polished while still installed in the frame. A wheel or even soft backed abrasive paper can round it's normally very clean and sharp Factory look in a hurry during a refinish.

That small lug is not installed in the frame 'till after the frame itself is finish polished at the factory so it's not in the way of perfectly polishing the flat side of the frame.
Look at the factory job in Post#3 and Post #15 (click to enlarge this one). Note the perfect sharp edges of this simple part and the dead flat polish of the side of the frame.

Then look closely at the same Lug on the OP revolver. Enlarge the orig pic if needed. It's very obvious along with the following...

Also the reflection of the fingers in the LH side of the frame above the trigger show not only the surface High Polish,,but also I believe what are the rougher/coarse grit lines still in the metal under that high polish. Maybe even some file cut lines.
That's not something the factory does to get a High Gloss polish.

I'm going to go with refinished. I agree that some of the edges just aren't sharp enough. Still, it looks to be a quality job and the overall look of the pistol is great. Congrats.
