Has anyone had S&W install the M&P Pistol Action Package? I have an M&P 45c and I do not like the trigger. I was going to order the Apex DCEAK kit until I emailed S&W today and they said it would void my warranty.

I too have a relatively new M&P 45C. Like yours the trigger was real heavy and I called Smith and Wesson about the M&P pistol action package. The guy I talked to in customer service was a jerk. He told me the only thing Smith and Wesson really would do would be to install a new sear and lighten the trigger somewhat. It would cost about $185 including shipping. I took mine to a local gunsmith for a trigger job (Adventure Outdoors in Marietta, GA). They did a good job and it cost $90 including tax.
Smith & Wesson customer service is lacking somewhat. I got the impression the guy was trying to get off the phone as fast as possible.

DCEAK kit pieces can be swapped back out if you would need warranty work. If you shipped to S&W they just might repair a defect but replace your trigger kit from Apex and keep it.

If a gunsmith altered your stock parts, your warranty may be gone.

^this is good advise.

i have 4 M&P pistols and the 45 was the only one that i felt really needed some help with the trigger. it was terribly heavy (approx 9-10 lbs:mad:) and made shooting accurately very difficult. the APEX DCAEK did wonders for this one and i would recommend it.

as Moonman noted, it's a reversible modification.

+1. I just installed the Apex DCAK in my Shield and it is everything it is reported to be and IMO, worth every penny.

My stock parts are stored away and IF warranty work is ever needed, the the OEM parts can easily re-installed.

As Moonman pointed out, altering your stock parts MAY void your warranty...

Never thought of this, I may go ahead and get the Apex kit and keep the old parts just in case I need warranty work.

It's a good idea to keep any stock part you change out if anything to put the firearm back in it's original configuration. I had the action job done by S&W on my first 45C and it was a waste of money. You're better off just installing the Apex sear and USB. I sent the 45C back to S&W for some work on the thumb safety and actually think they may have pulled the Apex sear out and put a factory stock sear in.

The Apex parts make the M&P guns what they should be from the factory. Warranty be darned on this issue. The DCAEK in my 45c made the gun from a overly heavy gritty trigger into greased lightning. The AEK trigger upgrade is next. After that I'm not sure what could make that action any better. If Apex ever offers a RAM for the .45 models then I guess that would be the last step. There is little reason for these guns to ever need to go back to Springfield. They are just too easy to break down on your own and tear apart down to the smallest springs and pins. And parts for them are too easily available. And the Apex parts make them really shine.

I was thinking about the Action package from Smith to. Now, I want to do the Apex DCAEK myself. That way if I have send it back to Smith I can swap the parts back to stock! My question is it hard to put the USB in on a FS 9mm. I have never messed with the sights. I still have the stock sights on it. I dont have a vise or sight pusher. I have been thinking of getting a pusher on eBay. Any suggestions?

Well in reference to APEX, what do guys think about the AEK kits vs. the FSS kit?

The FSS kit is really good if you intend to use it for competition.

I personally think that the DCAEK, Ram, and AEK trigger combo is even better than the FSS.

The FSS is going to give you a competition 3# trigger. Not really good for EDC.

The DCAEK with the Ram and AEK trigger gives you a crisp clean smooth trigger at 4.5-5#. A better choice for ccw, edc.

Either way, Apex makes your M&P what alot of us think it should be right from S&W. One sweet firearm!

M&P 40/357/9mm, M&P 40 PRO, M&P 22

With this setup, is the pretravel about the same as stock?

The apex sear increases pretravel, but the AEK trigger decreases pretravel. So, does it balance out?

Also, is it worth installing the ram?

I agree about the Apex parts and most are available for the shield also but Smith CS has no clue what parts are in the Shield after 2 months on the market. I had the plastic sleeve on the striker assembly crack after doing a detail strip at the 500 round mark. 3 Smith CS people told me they had no parts list and to send the gun back. After emailing some knowledgeable people found out the Shield uses the same striker 9/40 assembly as other M&P pistols in addition to the sear, striker Block and a few other parts. You would think that after 2 months CS should know or have a parts list available to them. Instead of me having to pay Brownells 35.00 Smith could have just sent the part.
