I really want to get an M&P finally. I have shot the Glock 34 in competition for a few years now and really like that gun, but the M&P really intrigues me.

I have read around on here and other forums that the PRO supposedly has a better trigger, but not according to the specs in the S&W 2009 magazine?????

I know the sights are different between the two, honestly I prefer just the plain black sights on the L model.

My biggest concern before ordering this pistol though- I do not want the stupid magazine disconnect safety feature. Some of S&W's material says this is optional for LE models, but what about civilians? Also don't really want the internal lock. I don't see any mention of these two things on the M&P 9L spec, but I will be torqued if I spend the money for one and it has that magazine disconnect and lock.

Can any one tell me for sure, that all 9L models do not have these features?

I purchased the M&P9PRO. I have shot Glocks and they are very reliable. However in terms of ergonomics I prefer the grip of the M&P line or the previous Model 99.

As I understand it, the difference between the two is that the Pro has fiber optic front sight and a better trigger. If you prefer the stadard front sight it might be more cost efficeint to purchase the 9L and get a trigger job.

My Pro model came without any locks. I ordered it from Sporting Arms. You may want to call S&W and check fpr the appropriate product code.

The Pro and the 9L are both listed as one configuration, no IL or mag safety. I do like the fiber optic sights for outdoor shooting and they use a extended all black rear sight on the pro as opposed to the three-dot sights. I thought that and the trigger more than made up for the $30 differance in the guns.
