M&P Pro CORE 9mm w/ Burrris Fastfire III

Good to know about the sightmark. Think I'm going to pony up for the Trijicon RMR. Shouldn't be any issues there.

What optic does S&W recommend for this gun and is the slide available alone. I have been watching these since I first read about them and might like to experient.

The M&P CORE (Competition Optics Ready Equipment), 9mm has several attachment plates included for the following red dot sights: Trijicon RMR, Leupold Deltapoint, Jpoint, Doctor, C-More STS, Insight MRDS.

The lowest price one of this group is the JPoint Micro 4 MOA @ $285.

Also, in checking the dimensions...

Burris FastFire II:
Dimensions (L x W x H): 45.72mm x 25.4mm x 22.86mm

JPoint:
Dimensions (L x W x H): 42mm x 25.4mm x 23mm

According to those numbers, the Burris FastFire II is shorter. So I am confused when you all mention that the BFFII sits higher or must be "cranked" to work.

I suspect that if S&W won't sell 9mm barrels (to prevent people from converting their .40's instead of buying new guns) I don't think they would sell CORE slides for the same reason. But I think you could find a gun machinist who would mill your slide to accept a reflex sight. I've got a CORE 9L and use a Deltapoint reflex. It works quite well and is an exact co-witness. I've only had it on a couple of weeks so I've got about 2500 rounds through it and I haven't had to readjust the zero. The only thing I don't like is that Leupold uses a Torx screw for the adjustment and the adjustment lock. The lock is on the back side and a stock T5 won't fit between the rear sight and the Deltapoint. What I did was to zero it in, then remove the reflex and tighten the adjustment screw locks then reinstall it. The witness "nubs" on the mount plate are very tight so when I reinstalled it, it was still spot on.

I tried the deltapoint "7.5 MOA Delta Dot" configuration on my CORE 9L and when cowitnessed half of the Delta Dot disappeared at the bottom edge of the display. It works fine otherwise but the disappearing dot is a bit disrupting.

My other CORE has the 3.5MOA Trijicon RMR and it works perfectly both in terms of co-registration and no disappearing dot syndrome. The smaller dot is more appropriate for precision shooting though, so YMMV as always!

I just found it distracting that the Delta began to disappear as the sights came in line.

The sight went back and I am getting another RMR.

Sent from my phone.

Looking at purchasing a M&P9 CORE 5" and my first thought is the DeltaPoint but based on price etc. I am "Really" looking at this Fastfire III.

Anymore updates from current M&P with Fastfire III users? How is it working?

I know this sits a little higher then most other red-dots compatible for this CORE but is it an issue? I don;t think having co-witnessed sights is a major deal for me as I shoot for fun not competition and if the dot goes out etc. I would just take it off I would assume.

Also what Model# Burris Fastfire III is compatible with the CORE? 300235 (the model with no picatinny rail?)

Thanks for any more updates you can provide! :)

UPDATE: .... Just purchased the CORE today ... any more feedback on this site or other?

I tried using a Burris Fastfire 3 on my Browning Buckmark for Steel Challenge and didn't like the size of the screen or the way the controls worked. I sent it back and got a C-More RTS2, which has a bigger screen for much easier dot pickup and much better brightness controls and the battery slides right out in a drawer. Any optic mounted on a moving slide, better be of high quality, which means more expensive.
If I can put a $390 optic on a $330 Buckmark, which doesn't even have the optic on the slide, I would certainly put it on a $700 M&P where it does.
Buying products are like buying oats: The oats that have already been through the horse are cheaper.

See photo (Excuse me putting a Buckmark in an M&P thread), but my M&P 22 is better served with the fiber optic sights I installed).

I have the Burris Fastfire 3 on my new M&P CORE 40.S&W. Out to the range today but 100 rounds thru it. The dot sits right on top of the front sight. The mounting plates one of them fit right on. The dust cover I had to grind down to snap it on.

Very Nice!

This may be a viable option if I decide to not go the DeltaPoint route. not sure if it be worth the extra $150+ over this burris).

So how much did you have to crank it to get it to Zero?

I read in here some have to crank it all the way with it sitting higher?

Any more further details, information, settings, etc. you can provide would be awesome!

I found one of these for $190 brand new shipped ... so for that price I can;t pass it up or be able to justify in any way the 200 dollar premium for the DeltaPoint anymore.

Thanks for the pic, anymore info you can provide would be Awesome!

All I can tell you right now is that this red dot was on a Sig rail mount before I put it on my new M&P. I only moved it about a half turn for it was up high. I still have to make final adjustments to it. When I mounted it on the gun last week I put the gun in a vise and lined it up on a target in the garage and made a temp. adjustment.

Is it an easy install on the CORE? Was it the type 5 plate like I have read?

So you haven't shot it yet just got it mounted?

I am able to get this for under 200 bucks (with no Pic mount) ... I can;t pass that up at all ... the DP would cost me over double that.

For my standing still range shooting needs this thing should work perfect .. no way for what I do can I justify spending almost 400 bucks when I can get this FastFire III for about $190.

Let me know how it's working out or if you have a chance to shoot it and how you like it on your M&P CORE.
