falconman I paid 420 to the door. But hard to value an optic that sight sits lower so fixed sights are easily useable and needs no battery for me as a practical multi use optic. If match range use only then deal with a set of fixed sites that may not be functional and buy a ffIII or vortex or ?? If fixed sites are not a worry mount the FFIII optic in place of the rear site on one of there adaptors #410336 , a shot away. Mounted like this-

Bad gouge on the MOA size above. MOA is minute of angle. The closer the target the bigger the dot for speed shooting. The further the target the smaller the dot for greater precision. MOA is about an inch at 100yds so 8 MOA would be less ideal than 2,3,4 or five...

To each is own ... I have used a larger MOA pistol reflex red-dot at the standard 10-25 yds. and Do Not care for it at all ... the smaller dot is much better for me.

Now mind you I am not a speed shooter and do not shoot competition etc. so maybe have a dot cover about half the targets center rings could be better for quick shots but I shoot slower and look for a more precise dot that only covers the bulls-eye area of a target and not half the entire target with a large 7+ MOA dot.

So for faster shooting maybe you are right ... but I will stick with the lower MOA dot for my shooting purposes.

Dot size should be more about what you need it for. My hunting revolver uses a 2" dot on a 35mm tube and allows for a more controlled shot placement at distance the normal range pistol would never be used at. On my m&p with the 9" green dot it covers only 2 1/4" at 25 yards an allows for faster on target with reasonable accuracy needs for match or defense needs with both fiber optic and night sighting the optic.

Just received my Burris FF3 today. Easy mounting on my 5" CORE with plate 5 and screw type B. As previous posts have mentioned it does sit a bit high therefore covering most of the front sight. You still can align the tops of the factory sights, just can't see the white dot on the front sight. But as someone has already said "who needs the factory sights when you're using the red dot". I do not shoot competition. Just maybe every week or two at the range. Plus at approx $200, it'll work fine for me. I'll go to the range tomorrow and sight it in.

Since I just started looking for a reflex for my CORE 9, I need to be directed to the proper model or terminology for the Burris Fastfire III for my CORE 9. Bud's was the first time I've seen "mini-sight" in the name. I give up, what am I missing?

Nope, that's the fastfire 2. Older model. Look at the part #.

That's what these reflex sights are for pistols ... "Mini-sights" .... they are small red-dots basically.
But yes on Buds Guns the one that says "Mini-Sight" is actually the Fastfire II ... BUT that is still really the same name for the FFIII as well it's just not in the description ... they could all be called mini-sights if they wanted cause that's what they are basically.

That being said make sure you get the FastFire 3 (III) model ... If you are buying from buds guns here are the 4 model numbers to look for ....
300234 - 3 MOA (with picatinny mount) I got this one
300235 - 3 MOA (optic along no rail)
300236 - 8 MOA (with picatinny mount)
300237 - 8 MOA (optic along no rail)

If you are using this for the pistol then you Do Not need the Pic Rail ... I bought mine with it though so it was more universal in case I wanted to use it on my AR down the road or something (or if I sell it it would catch more money being that it comes with a rail and could be installed on MANY more arms then without).

Zero'ed in the Fastfire III yesterday .... Shot Like A CHAMP for a few hundred rounds non-stop!!!

A winner so far in my book for the price

If it holds zero for some time to come I am SO Happy I went this route and saved the money.

The co-witness of sights is pointless for me as I only shoot this at the range (if the battery goes dead I've got another on hand, and I do not shoot competition or anything so the irons really just get in my way to be honest.)

Falconman515, Let me give you one example …
I got a .40 CORE to carry with me bow hunting as b/u for defense in bear country with the appropriate bullets. So I don't want to leave any stone unturned that I have usable sights in the event the red dot fails. So co-witnessing the sights is a must for me so I put on a Trijicon. Not enough experience with my CORE yet, but I believe that being able to fully see the fixed sights will in the end help me acquire the red dot faster too, as the red dot sits right above the lined up fixed sights! And if/when there are good night sights for the CORE, I probably will have them on there to improve sight acquisition speed in low light as well.

(I started with a G23 as both a HD gun and to carry while I was bow hunting. I first started with the Burris Fastfire III on it. Replaced the rear sight dovetail and used the Burris mounting plate for a Glock. Of course then there are no rear sights and it sits really high. I love the FF III, no problem holding zero through 400-500 rds., I liked the brightness adjustment and dust cover, and I was much more accurate at the range. But … sitting high it was somewhat unnatural to bring the gun on target … an inconvenience at the range. And at night in the house the red dot was almost impossible to find quickly in a point and shoot scenario. So I replaced the FF III on the G23 with night sights and I can still use it for HD or carrying bowhunting. But I am still more accurate with the red dot on my CORE and prefer it to carry along hunting. )

I can see that ... I would bet my life and trip on something like a Trijicon or even a DeltaPoint.

I have not shot mine with any other optic so I can't attest to the not having full view of the sights ... But I do know i would like that.

I have said for a while now that for that reason only if the price on the DeltaPoint II comes down one day to a less then 300 dollar sale price I would jump on it.

But for the time being the FFIII does the job just perfect for the $180 bucks it cost me to add a nice Reflex to my CORE.

Yeah, if the FFIII co-witnessed enough, that is what I would have on my CORE instead of Trijicon also. Optics are good, held zero well, I like the battery replacement from the top, and liked the cover. Instead, I put the FFIII on my muzzleloader, so I've got a nice red dot sight on that for hunting where you are not allowed to use scopes.

From the overall height of the sight or the ability to view the irons within the view of the reflex sight itself.

The best ability to view irons through the view of the sight is probably the Leupold and RMR sights.

I do caution you there is always a lot of smoke about the sights ability to co-witness. If you are a speed shooter and have a gun that truly co-witness's be prepared to deal with the extra clutter in your sight. If you want a sight that co-witness's on a defensive gun because you are concerned you may loose your battery and have to switch to iron's then carry a iron sighted pistol only for EDC.

The M&P CORE (Competition Optics Ready Equipment), 9mm has several attachment plates included for the following red dot sights: Trijicon RMR, Leupold Deltapoint, Jpoint, Doctor, C-More STS, Insight MRDS.

The lowest price one of this group is the JPoint Micro 4 MOA @ $285.

The Jpoint is the one I have on my M&P 9mm Pro C.O.R.E. Not sure it's the micro, though. Went on in a breeze. I used a laser bore sighter to zero it.

The darling husband has the Fastfire III on his core. He loves it and we have had no problems with zero. Prob. over a 1000 rounds through it so far.
