M&P Pro Trigger, Improved or not?

My Compact and Shield came with 6.5lb triggers. I bought a 5" Pro two days ago and it also came with a 6.5lb trigger. Matter of fact, all three of them at the store had 6.5lb triggers. I had them install an Apex competition trigger sear and spring kit and it dropped to 4lbs. I took it home and used a toothpick to put a very small dab of aluminum anti-seize on the sear to striker contacts and the trigger bar to sear contact. This dropped the pull to 3lbs. It's not a target pistol, but will keep most shots with commercial reloads, in a three inch group at 25 yards, off a sandbag. Winchester white box shoots into a four inch group. Of course you have the occasional flyer, shooter or ammo related.

update on Pro Series triggers 2016

Sad to report, as of mid 2016, Pro Series 5" M&P9L
still coming with 7 pound triggers.

I have 2, FOS 5" Pro and CORE 5" Pro. Both 7# triggers.

I must have gotten lucky. I think the trigger on my FS 40 pro is pretty good. It is much better than most striker fired pistols I've shot, Or at least comparable. Of course I haven't shot them all but I've shot several. It's certainly not a competition trigger, but pretty good for what it is in a relatively cheap plastic gun. Granted it was gritty at first but that mostly worked Itself out. The break has always been crisp and clean. The pull is much lighter than my shield. And with the exception of the shield's better reset, I like it better because of its significantly lighter pull weight. Mine comes in less that 5lbs. I think he was made in 14 but would need to check that.

There have been examples of the Pro Series that are in spec
for the trigger pull. But they are in the minority.

Many more reports of 7.X lb pulls are multiple over several years.

My Novak sight 5" Pro is a June 2016 build and was 7.4 lbs.

I sent it back to S&W and it is now in spec, very smooth take up & a pull in the low 5 lb range.

The way it should have been out of the box.

What does the apex have that the s&w core doesn't have. Is it Polished? Different geometry or wht? Like I got the voqurtson(sp) hammer and sear for my 22/45 put I could have polished the stock parts and got just as good results if not better. I thought of putting the apex parts in but want to try polishing te stock parts first since I'm bored.

For what it's worth, the trigger in my shield 9mm is far better than the trigger that was in my Pro 9mm.

My Apex endowed Shield (with polishing) has a better trigger than the new Core 9mms I've tried. Personally I am convinced that getting the base pistol and adding the Apex (and polishing) is better in the long run......And I've done several.....
