Anybody have any comments about this model? I think this will be my next purchase!
When I can fool my wife we really need it in our house!

No way does a used 686 compare with a R8.

Even shooting full power mags in the R8, as light as it is, the recoil is mild and target recovery time is good. The 5" barrel makes the balance feel right.

I like mine.

I agree with the last post. I have the Thunder Ranch version of the R8 (cosmetic differences only) and it came with a great trigger and shoots great. I'd buy either version as my preference over the earlier models you mentioned. Dave

I love it. Great shooting gun. Must say that mine required 2 trips back to the factory for light primer strikes. Probably would have worked with Federal Primers but I do not use them.

After a firing pin change and then a new mainspring it is flawless. No perceived change in the trigger pull.

Something very nice about those 8 rounds of 357 Mag:D

As JDH stated the felt recoil is very comfortable. I thought it would be worse than the 686 but I think it's better.

I have had my R8 for about a year now and I have had the happy opportunity to put 4000+ rounds down the finely crafter barrel. The R8 is my favorite revolver, it is precise and accurate to the extreme. I have shot bullseye with it and I shoot it double action only.

My R8 went back to the factory once for a loose barrel nut. I decided to complain that the trigger was a bit gritty (it was still fantastic) and the factory replaced the hand and it was even better. I dig the interchangeable front sight and the barrel heavy balance of the R8, it reminds me of PPC revolvers of days past.

I have the thunder ranch version as well. Double Action is nice and smooth and Single Action is very nice. I also like the removable rails. I can add a red dot scope and light for home protection or remove the rails for day at the range.
