There is a firing pin block safety that is engaged at all times. The only time the safety is disengaged, is when the trigger is pulled.
They are safe guns, the safeties are there, they are internal, automatic, and are only disengaged by trigger pull.
The gun is double action only by the slightest of margins. It is 95% precocked when a round is chambered, or the slide is moved approx. 1/4". The firing pin safety is engaged 100% of the time as a block in the firing pin channel. A lever attached to the trigger bar moves across a plunger that removes the block from the channel while the sear block is rotated out of the way of the precocked firing pin.
There are safeties, and it is a safe gun with trigger finger discipline.
