M&P serial number ranges

Hello,
I just acquired a "pre-owned" M&P 9mm pistol; the serial number prefix is 'MRF'. All the other M&P 9s I've seen come through my local dealer's had prefixes starting with 'C'. Does anyone have any information on serial number prefixes for M&P pistols? Thanks,

MRF would be approximately July 2008. There is a system but it is complicated. I wrote up a post for another forum on serial numbers. I'll see if I can find it.

If your gun came with the fired case, it will have the approximate DOB on it. If your gun case has the barcode on it, the date will be below the Product # in the form of a 4 digit number. My wifes gun is 9025 which is the 25th day of 2009, or Jan 25, 2009. Her serial # starts with MRN. My guns number is 8311 which is Nov 7, 2008 and has the MRM prefix...

My serial number started with "DUD" I can't help wondering if there is a hidden meaning there...
