M&P Shield comparison to similar 9mms

I actually wound up selling my 9mm Shield. The gun felt great in my hand. I shot about 200 rounds and had no malfunctions at all, NONE. Rock solid gun but for some reason I just could not hit a good group with it. Something just about me, not the gun. I bought a XDS 9mm and do much better with it, not sure why. YMMV

Have you noticed that aftermarket triggers are available for Shield, Glock, XDS? The trigger is the main cause of poor marksmanship.

The trigger actually felt okay to me. I really am not a trigger snob. I actually shoot a tighter group with my Bodyguard then I could the Shield. The bodyguard has the factory trigger and had the factory sights until about an hour ago. Who knows, like I said, it was a great gun. It and I just didn't click.

Excellent comments. Many thanks.

I hope you find something that works for you.

Funny comment, actually. I am way past that point. Decades past it. I just like to change it up here and there. My EDC was a Beretta 950-BS in .25 ACP forever (before concealed carry law passing, actually), then a M 642, but I switched awhile back to a 2" K frame. I have several choices but there are two primary choices. Not a big thing for this thread except that I have what works. I also sometimes carry a S&W M6906 or a SIG SP-2022. It is for the times when I want to carry a 9mm instead of a K frame that I think about smaller/lighter/etc. Thus the question I asked here and y'all have answered me very well so I am obliged. :)

Which is why it's important to not base decisions only on what people on the interwebs say, but to try the guns. I went from a HS2000 (the XD before Springfield got into the game) to a Shield. I fully expected to shoot the XDs better since I was used to the grip angle, the trigger... everything. I was shocked to see myself shooting smaller groups with the Shield than the XDs. Hence, I have a Shield now.

I really wanted to love the Shield, it felt so good and the reviews are great for the gun. I bought a nice IWB holster for it and liked the size. Just a shame it didn't work out for me. The guy I sold it to, loves it, well actually, his wife loves it and it is now her gun. She had his Glock 43 and gave that back to him because she likes the Shield better.

Being a revolver only guy for a long time I decided to get a small single stack nine just for something different. Luckily I work at an indoor range with a rental program so I was able to test drive a bunch before purchase. Being rentals I got to feel what they would be like after being "broken in" which I think makes a difference. I really wanted to like the Shield, but just wasn't a good fit for me, same with the G43, went with the XDs as it just fit and shot better for me. 600+ rounds factory and handloads without a hiccup and groups are getting smaller so I am happy
