Got lucky enough to come across a Shield (at a good price too) and I need a holster for conceled carry for it. From the "announced" holsters I kinda like the forbus paddle holster. My wife will be carrying it mostly. I don't think she'll like having to wear a belt with all outfits, so I figure a paddle holster will do best. Looking for one that pulls the pistol tight against the body, and the holster itself don't stick out from the body to much. I can wait(a little) for some of the other makers to crank some holsters out for the shield, so any known holsters like this feel free to comment on.
Thanks.

While it's not in front of me and so I can't verify the size, I have a Remora holster for my LC9 that carries the Shield perfectly. It has a sweat shield and a reinforced mouth for easy reholstering. Conceals very well under just a polo or untucked button down shirt.

I have a Garrett Industries Silent Thunder STX on order, with 6 degree cant. Kydex+leather means silent draw and no scuff marks!

+1 on Comp-Tac

Personally I would skip the fobus and get a good IWB. I have a couple Fobus paddles that I use for the range but I don't see them as a good concealed carry holster. This is especially true with a super thin gun like the shield that IMO is made for In Waist Band carry. Again just my opinion but I would suggest the Comp-Tac MTAC. They are accepting pre-orders now and I believe will be releasing all their models for the shield in a couple days. It is a great holster at a reasonable price.

Good holsters cost money. People who invest in a good or great firearm and then carry them in a cheap $10 or $20 holsters just doesn't make good sense.

Good Leather or Leather and Kydex holsters make carrying more comfortable and safe.

Do yourself a favor, READ-READ-READ and find out why good holsters are not just any holster if you're going to carry a firearm.

Don't just grab anything that's on the shelf that you think is economical and will work.

They can be uncomfortable and dangerous to your CCW health because of their less than outstanding firearm retention.

The time spent studying or inquiring about specifics is time well spent.

Some folks even spend a lot of money and wait 1-2 years for a masterpiece creation from one of the great holster craftsmen.

I'm not a big IWB user. I own full and compact M&Ps. I have a Smith sold leather speed scabbard for both sizes. Took the compact version and tightened down the retention screw. The Shield is only slightly shorter than the compacts. Fits like a glove and very comfortable. Smith sells them for $74 out the door. Made by Desantis. Desantis sells these specifically for the Shield. Don't like thumb breaks. No value if needing a quick draw which is the only way I will in a critical situation. The speed scabbard is small and unstable...very flimsy. Don't waste your money.

My wife is going to carry this quite a bit, and don't want a iwb. She don't wear a belt much and wants to carry with shorts/pants without having to wear a belt. If she could just tuck a paddle holster in and go, I think she would carry more often than if she had to have a belt. If it came down to it, I think she would go with a belt holster over a iwb anyway.
I don't mind investing money on quality products, I just seen a add for the Fobus evolution and it seemed thin and would tuck close to the body. Thats why I asked about it specifically, to see if anyone had tried it. Does Fobus not have a good rep? I've heard of them, but know very little about them.

Fobus are great. But they are bulking. I use them at the range. I personally don't think they are great for concealment. Sitting and everyday movement don't mix with their stiff construction. Order one and she doesn't like it...return it. I've done that with many holsters.

Here's a DeSantis mini scabbard. Came in today. Fit tight, rides high enough for me.

CHECK OUT CROSSBREED'S IWB HOLSTERS. I USE ONE FOR FULL AND COMPACT M&P'S AND HAVE HAD NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT. WORTH THE $$ IN MY OPINION.

might sound stupid but hear me out! I picked up a Milt Spark Summer Special 2 for the Glock 26 from Brownells, "lifetime return policy" I can tell you I wont be returning it! It fits like an absolute glove, you would really think its made for it! Its a lil tight the first few holsterings around the trigger gaurd. I'll post a few pics later to prove it!

I just got a new Shield 9mm at the beginning of the month and bought both a OWB Fobus Paddle style and also a Blackhqawk IWB designed for a sub-compact 9mm/.40cal. The paddle I wear when I have a sport coat or other coat, and the IWB is for those days when I have a "T" shirt only. The 9mm is pretty light, but I have to have a belt with either. For your wife, not wanting to wear a belt, she might try some of the elastic type holsters that go around the mid section or one that is a bra type. The problem with them is accessibility when you need to have quick access to your weapon. There is a lot to be considered!
