I love a then pistol with a thin grip. The Shield certainly fits the bill, but I find it to be a little too thin. I have the Talon grip material installed. I'm thinking about removing the Talon grip material and installing a Houge Handall grip sleeve. I'm thinking a person could wedge some type of plastic material between the grip and grip sleeve to increase the grip's girth. Your thoughts?

I have the grip on my 45 shield, it is so much better. The grip has a bit of a palm swell and slight finger groove for a better purchase. Note, it's is a very tight fit, which is a good thing once on. My wife however loves the thinness of her shield 9

The same sleeve fits the Walther PPS. I put a Pachmayr sleeve on my son's PPS and it made a world of difference, and insures the removable backstrap stays on.

Love the Hogue grip and I have small hands. Shield 9mm 1.0 is my EDC and I don't see any difference from stock grip at the 3:30 - 4:00 IWB position. Hogue is a challenge to put on, but didn't take more than a couple of minutes. Warm it up and go for it. My two cents.

Along with warming the sleeve, roll the top over 3/8" or so like a sock top then slide it up the grip.

The Houge "Shield Grip" #18400 IS tough to get on, but it will not move on you and it fills the hand well. Heat it up in nearly boiling water (for a while) and spray grip with dish soap or Windex as they say to do. It is a fight, so be ready.

Houge grips...... Perfect for many applications !

I have a Houge grip sleeve on my shield 1.0 and find, for me, it's made the gun perform much better in my hands. It gives a palm swell improvement that I like.

Also put one on my Glock 43, same result.

Big fan of the grip sleeve

I wear large sized gloves to give perspective

I also use a Hogue on my Shield. Yeah kinda tough to get on lol but works and feels great. That said, not sure about being able to wedge anything between the sleeve and the Shield to increase girth even more. I would think that could increase the possibly of damaging the sleeve during install. But my .02 the sleeve adds enough without being too cumbersome. And is an inexpensive option to try.
Edit: I too have smaller hands, just prefer the feel of a thicker grip. Added a sleeve to my Victory as well.

Has anyone had luck putting the Hogue grip on a Shield 2.0? I have strong hands ( I thought) and soaked it in boiling water and used plenty of Windex. I used the Hogue recommended method and had no luck getting it on. I have a heat gun if needed. Thanks.

Not to just stir guano, besides I have a Shield 9 and like it a lot, but if I thought the grip was too thin on the Shield I'd get a gun with a double stacked mag and get both a thicker grip and the increased capacity. There are small 9s that fit that bill. Personally I like the Shield just the way it is, plus I have compact double stacks.

Another install suggestion i was given when i purchased mine was to use plain hand sanitizer (no lotion or aloe). Seemed to work ok though again it took some effort to get on my 1.0 anyway

Need to use the shims cut from plastic packaging as described in install instructions. Dip in hot water and install with the smooth plastic shims. A real bear to get on the 2.0, but it is doable.
