Saw an M&P shield 9mm at a local gun store today. Had a stainless slide and tru glo sights. After doing some googling, i'm beginning to wonder if the stainless slide is a factory offering or a custom job. Cant seem to find a 2 tone shield mentioned anywhere.

Does anybody know if this is factory configuration or not?

I can get it for $410 cash OTD, but want to make sure of what i'm getting first.

my guess is a custom job, I haven't seen a two tone factory yet, it is not even on the web site, perhaps some company did the mod if you are paying top price make sure it is new and not second hand.

That was the conclusion I was coming to as well. I liked the look of it, and it fit nicely in my pocket, but I just like to know what I am getting. I don't like surprises.

Get the model number and do a google search. If it is factory it should show up the same at other gun shops.

Someone has just removed the factory finish revealing the stainless steel slide. Its a fairly popular modification.

I have a two tone M&P shield40 but I had to send my slide to Robar in Arizona to get it NP3 coated and the finish looks great.

Well, went to another pawn shop in town to troll. They had a shield as well, excellent condition. Didn't even look like it had been in a holster yet. The previous owner had put some day-glo orange and green paint on the sights, which is actually pretty nice in the daylight. He also put a punisher backplate on the slide. Kinda dumb, but no big deal. They had 379.99 marked on the tag. I asked him what his best cash OTD price was. He said 350, I said sold. Came with the box, both mags, grip extensions, etc. Best part, it was a no-lock version. So I am happy now.

Any recommendations for a good inside the pocket holster?

Congrats on finding one you like. :)

I know some say that the Shield is too big to be a Pocket pistol, but I've had no trouble Front Pocket carrying for the last 4yrs. It all comes down to the brand (and cut) of jeans/shorts/slacks.

For pocket holsters, I like the Galco Pocket Protector (Good thick leather),
The DeSantis Pocket-Tuk (it comes with a removable swivel clip, so it can also be used IWB)
and Remora. The original (sticky) Remora can also be used either IWB or pocket, but they now also have a model similar to the Pocket-Tuk (removable swivel clip).

All 3 that I mentioned can be found for $20-$30.
Remora always has some sort of special running and usually offers a free mag holder and/or liner upgrade.

Ended up getting a Desantis Nemesis off ebay. Reviews seemed very good, and I just couldn't wait. That Remora holster looks very nice though... may get a 2nd holster

May?? I once thought I "may" get a second holster. :D I think I end up with at least 3 for each gun I carry and a drawer full of the ones that I didn't care for. My favorites end up being from a local guy that makes kydex, leather, hybrid and leather lined kydex.

Holsters are one of those things that you generally have afew of. Different one for different clothing. Winter vs. Summer etc. One guy told me when I started with handguns , "you'll wind up with a drawer full of holsters". I think he was right.
