M&P Shield Slide switch

I have a Shield 1.0 that I would like to put a Performance Center 4" slide on. My frame has a thumb safety which is why I want to keep it. The new P/C's do not have safeties. Has any one tried it and does it work ?

I don't believe there are any slide differences that would prevent mounting a 2.0 slide on a 1.0. The safety should not be a factor since it does not interface with the slide.
Glad to meet another Shield safety fan. They got it right.

This is the only striker fired gun I will carry and that is because of the thumb safety. I would just like a little longer barrel and sight radius. I have about 2000 rounds through this gun with out a Hiccup. I believe I will just buy a performance center and try it.

You can add a thumb safety for about $25 and 10 minutes. My experience is with the full size, but if you have little square plugs on the side of the lower you can do it.

The Shield is a different design. I don't think adding a safety is quite as easy as it is on the doublestack M&P's.

I agree. There is no cutout on the frame for the safety if you have a non safety version.

I'm in the Peoples Republic. Had no choice. Had to get the thumb safety. I used Loctite to permanently put the safety in the off position.

Found a 4" shield slide, put it on my 9mm Shield 1.0 with a thumb safety and it works perfectly..
