I recently purchased the above M&P in 9mm.

I am now interested in acquiring an AIWB holster. I have researched several different brands and now leaning toward the Comp-Tak Infidel Max.

Would appreciate any comments positive or negative from those that use this holster for their Shield.

For those that use a different brand/model, would be great to hear why you believe yours is better than the Infidel Max.

There seems to be such a variety it begins to get confusing on which way to go. I do know I want to carry appendix style.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know the Infidel Max holster. For leather I use Jason Winnie and for plastic I prefer Blackhawk and BladeTech. I'm highly satisfied with them all.

I've got a Jason Winnie J201T for my BG380 and Kahrs. It also works for appendix.

Check out the Vedder LiteTuck and Concealment Express for kydex options. Both quality holsters. The LiteTuck has the advantage of being adjustable in cant and ride height.

Good decision to go AIWB. I have used various different JM Custom holsters for about three years now for AIWB. I have bought from other makers, but I don't use them. They are inferior.

AIWB Holster – Wing Claw 2.0: JM Custom Kydex

You'll probably pay more for this than whatever else you are looking at, but you will only buy this one holster, because:

1. It holds the gun perfectly
2. It conceals better than any other because the wing claw holds the grip in to your body and the longer model is stable and does not tip outward as much as short holsters
3. Adding the foam pad to the bottom of the holster makes it extremely comfortable for very long periods of time.
4. I recommend the snap loops for absolute security on a good 1.5" belt

I've never heard of the holster you mentioned, but there are dozens of Kydex holsters out there from cheap to OK to good to great. You will get what you pay for. As is always the case with items for your personal defense, buy the best you can afford. Buy once. Cry once.

CYA Holster makes a fine kydex for your shield. Just drove from Michigan to Florida and forgot I was even carrying a pistol. (Carried aiwb)

IWB Holsters – CYA Supply Co.

I use CYA as well, nicely made and a good positive adjustable fit. I like that it covers to the back of the slide against your skin.

Comp-Tac is awesome stuff (I have TONS of their gear), but they are not very good at AIWB. For AIWB, I'd stick with JM Custom, Dale Frickie, or Keeper's Concealment. A new one I might try is T-rex. You will want some type of "claw" feature to pull the grip across your body, and a foam/gel pad on the bottom helps tuck it towards your stomach. These features are much more important in full-size guns than the sub-compact Shield, but they still help. A true "gun belt" is also a MUST.

My only complaint about the comptac or any style like that is the inability to adjust ride height. I briefly had a CYA holster and didn't like how high it rode. Harry's Holsters is the only one I've seen so far that seems to address that issue. Harry's Holster's the most adaptable low profile IWB holsters. – Harry's Holsters
I don't have one of these, but I do have a foxtrot concealment tuckable IWB holster I use which rides slightly lower.

The Comp-Tac CTac and MTac are height adjustable. I have both and they are excellent.

Those 2 aren't like the quick clip style of the infidel max, CYA, concealment express, etc. I don't know about OP but I personally strongly dislike the ctac/mtac/etc style holsters, especially since I have to pick up my kids at school and can't (legally) walk up to the school while packing.

They are a little different style, but they still both have clips. It takes maybe 10 seconds to take on/off instead of 5. I do the same when picking up my child. YMMV, which is why we are lucky to have many options to fit different needs.

I carry mine in a pretty cheap leather Bianchi 100 Professional. It has an extended piece on the back that keeps the pistol from rubbing against my dimensionally challenged body. Of course a good belt is a plus too.

Tons of great holsters out there. The problem is whats great for me is not so great for you. It's a lot of trial and error. Unfortunately you can't test drive holsters for afew days. I have tried them all. IWB, OWB, shoulder, ankle etc. Some I've liked for a day or three. Then with different clothes or sitting very long or walking they are uncomfortable. Drives you crazy. So what did I like the best? An inexpensive lowly belly band holster. Very comfortable, clocks anywhere, doesn't require loose fitting pants etc. BUT, that's what works for me. Unfortunately the drawer full of holsters I have were wasted $$. Wish I had tried the belly band earlier.
