Of the various sight pushers on the market, are there any that work particularly well with M&Ps? Any to avoid like the plague?

Ideally it would work with any gun, as I'd really rather not wail on my guns like a blacksmith every time I want to nudge a sight around.

I have a universal sight tool that I picked up from ebay. Used it to swap to night sights on four guns. I wanna say it was less than $100 so it paid for itself on my guns and I've lent it out to friends twice. Much cheaper than the spendy Wheeler and MGW ones.

Is that the blue one? On Amazon the reviews are generally good, except a few seem to have gotten bad castings that broke.

I bought this one recently:
Ebay sight pusher

Works well on my 40C and Shields. The front sight on a Truglo TFX Pro sights is almost too long for the width of the pusher block, but it did get the job done.

I got a non branded one off Ebay for $35. Works really well. Especially if you have a vice to clam it and level the slide. I keep in a small box to keep the attachments together.

I love the MGW that’s what I use on all my guns.

The pictures show a threaded rod but no knob of any kind. How do you rotate the "screw"?

After some research, I bought a B&J Machine P500 Universal sight pusher some 12 years back with the intent of changing the sights on both a M&P and 1911. The plan was to get them both done and then sell the tool to recoup my investment. Some 12-15sight changes later, I still don't want to part with it. It has worked on any number of brands/models and owes me nothing. It has actually paid for itself many times over.

As an aside, I have broken the hardened tip on two separate occasions with exceptionally stuck sights. . A call to the company gets me a friendly person that drops me the parts that day at no charge.

I am looking for a pusher myself at works for an M&P. I refuse to put a hammer and punch to my guns.

I bought the Wheeler universal sight pusher and have used it on several makes of guns, including my double stack Smiths and even the stupid tough Shield sights and it’s done a great job.

Those were designed and manufactured by a forum member. Me to be exact. They were originally designed for s&w pistols. You can get the cheaper one and get excellent results so long as you order the right attachments. If you have a 5” slide you do need the Mk V.

And it has worked great so far thank you

The problem is that people use round punches. These are difficult to keep on the sight without slipping.

I made a few drifts from tool blanks which stay flat and square to the sights. I also clamp the slide in my vise using micarta to prevent marring the finish. Never left a scratch.

Same as epj, I have the Jennings pusher. Shield sights are very tightly fit, and this pusher works like a champ (and on any other pistol sights for that matter). Their price is quite competitive IMO.

I bought epj's sight pusher a couple years ago and it makes quick work of my sight removals/installs. Like others have said, the Shield's front sight on mine was TIGHT! When it finally broke free and started moving it did so with an extremely loud "POP", loud enough for me to think something had broke, but nothing did!

Highly recommend it!
