Ok, got a M&P15 Sport (carbine). The F-marked front sight is terrible. I hate that damn sight post. So, I've decided to go with replacing the 7" handguard with a free-float 13" super slim handguard, coupled with a low-profile gas block. A2 front sight post is ****, so I'll be replacing it with a MagPul MBUS Flip Up Front Sight to match the rear MBUS sight. Below are the links to the parts I plan to purchase very soon. Just wanted you guys to take a look and give me a little assurance that these parts will work on my Sport carbine.
UTG Pro Rifle Length 13" FF Handguard: UTG PRO Model 4 Rifle Length Super Slim Free Float Handguard
Yankee Hill Machine Low Profile Gas Block: Yankee Hill AR-15 Low Profile Gas Block .75" Steel Phosphate Finish YHM-9383
No need to add a link to the MBUS Front Sight, as I'm sure you guys know exactly what I'm talking about. Also, I know that some people love UTG, and some absolutely hate them. I've used UTG products on my shotguns and other rifles for around 10 years and I've never had a single problem with any UTG products. Besides, the UTG Pro series is designed and manufactured in the USA, not Cheapo-China. So, I will be sticking with the UTG Pro handguards, no matter which model I end up with. Here's a pic of an AR-15 that I found on Google Images. This is almost exactly what I'm going for. Will the above linked parts get me here?:

I know that the answer will most likely be 'yes', but I just wanted to check with some more experienced AR owners and upgraders before I drop the cash on these parts.

Technically, to get to the pictured rifle, you'll need some other stuff too:
New muzzle device
Magpul MOE grip in FDE
Magpul CTR Stock in FDE
Magpul AFG in FDE

This is of course in addition to the MBUS front sight, UTG Super Slim Pro 13" forearm and YH gas block. ;):D

Then again, if you don't care about that other stuff, the stuff you listed will get you what you want and will fit on your gun.

Thank you very much. You told me everything I need to know.

And no, I think I'll pass on the FDE furniture. I live in SC. Don't think I'll be needing to use my AR in the middle of Afghanistan.:D

You're golden, but JaPes suggestion for 15" is something to consider. :D

Here's a comparison for you, although these are Troy hand guards.

13"

15"

Good Luck and good shooting. :D

What do you expect to gain by going from the FSB to a Magpul front sight? The Magpul front sight uses a standard front sight post... in other words, the front sight post isn't going to be any different.

Rastoff beat me to it.

One more thought. Why 13"? If you're going to go for it, might as well go 15".

This is a good point, I went 13", and kinda wish I would have stuck with the 15" I had originally, especially after adding the Lantac Dragon. Damn you Gunny ;)

Also check out the Keymod FF rails. They're slim diameter, light weight, and mounting accessories is easy. I put a MI extended keymod handguard on my Tavor. I've experienced the ease of the Keymod system first hand, and highly recommend it.
I have not experienced the Keymod system, but I do have the UTG Pro Super Slim free float hand guard. It is remarkably slim and sturdy. Plus it costs about $50 less than the one you linked to.

Meh, different strokes. I think any of us would be happy with either one.

My preference of the key-mod system comes from having to deal with the Troy Alpha system. Affixing rail segments or accessories to the holes in the Troy rail is annoying. I have to be able to reach the back of the rail segment to mount it. That means that I can only put rail segments as far down as my fingers can reach. The Troy system theoretically allows me to put rail segments anywhere, but as a practical exercise it's nearly impossible.

The Keymod is super easy. Loosen the screws on the rail segment, slide it onto the rail, snug down the screws. Easy-peasy.

Yes, the Keymod may be simpler, but the UTG is close. You would have to add picatinny segments, but they just screw on from the outside.

(Yes, I should have bought the 13", but got the 11", I know, I know...)

See the little holes next to the oval ones? All those are threaded. So, I can put picatinny rails anywhere I want or leave them off. The Keymod may be better, I don't know. This one is really great for the money. I paid about $100 for mine. I can't find a Made in the US free float forearm that's as nice for anything close to that.

When I get around to buying a Surefire Scout light I'll be swapping out to a keymod handguard and using an IWC light mount. Compared to the quad rail on my rifle, the keymod system allows for mounting closer in with the right mounts.
