got a sport several days ago, shot this am, around 80 down range, no fail to function, but twice the last round out of a older colt 15 round metal magazine got hung up and deep dented the side of the cartridge.
a good value starter platform.
while i was looking, 3 other persons bought this rifle!
must be a record for popularity.

I bet that old Colt mag just needs a new spring and a MagPul follower upgrade.

Get yourself a Pmag or GI mag with good spring and follower and your malfunctions will go away. Enjoy the new rifle.

i'll try a new spring- exterior finsh has been worn down to a brass color.
i do have 3 pmags- they worked without flaw.
been lurking awhile, 1st ar, at my age recoil is a recent concern.
its a fun gun to shoot, I regard shooting sports as entertainment.

I love the old 20-round GI mags. They can be worn down to bare aluminum and still work fine, as long as the feed lips and spring are good.

Yep love my M&P 15 Sport. Its been 100 % reliable.
