Can someone give the pros and cons of the m&p 40 full size vs compact for concealed carry & occasional use as my sidearm for my job as a tactical paramedic? Thanks for your help!

I've got the 40c (among others) and its easy to conceal. I don't know if that's an issue for you or not.
The "c" has a 3.5" barrel but otherwise there isn't a heck of a lot of difference. I would think the weight difference is negligible.

FWIW: I have the 9c and have been told that at the distances i shoot (range type) i wouldnt get much if any improvement in accuracy with the full size. And as i already use the fs mag then the compact sort of gives me both worlds with the flex it offers while still being able to conceal easy enough when needed. Not sure if that same flex translates into the 40 though.

Have the 9c. It is a breeze to carry as opposed to my two FS M&Ps. You're not really giving up much.

I have carried the full size 9mm for a few years and just switched to the Shield 9mm. I like both but really have grown to like the Shield in just a week. Again, with self defense distances, I think the Shield will more than do the job of self defense carry weapon. Just my opinion.

A tactical paramedic is a critical care paramedic who is also trained to be a swat team member

Have both in 9mm. Biggest drawback with concealing the FS is the grip. Over all, it's marginally longer, otherwise the dimensions are the same, but that grip's darn near impossible to cover up. If I could only have one, it would be the Compact. Easier to conceal.

In your situation I think I'd carry the 40c with a couple of extra full size mags with the XGrip magazine adapters.

I say carry as much gun as you can...but, for obvious reasons, the 40C will be a little easier to conceal.

FS 40 Pros: more bullets

40c Cons: less bullets

That's kinda what I was thinking was using the 40c with the c mag for concealed carry with the extra xgrip mag and use all xgrip mags for carrying as sidearm for when working as a tactical paramedic. Thanks for the advice!
