We're talking low profile gas blocks under a handguard. Low profile gas blocks under the handguard aren't subject to being bashed and knocked around like an A2 front sight is, and of course is "mil spec".

Dimple and Loctite. If you Google for it you'll find BCM saying specifically what they do/use.
