Hi guys,
Bought an M&P22 a while ago and finally got to shoot it. I really like this thing, and actually found that my accuracy with my 9mm improved after shooting with the 22. (probably helps get rid of a minor flinch)

I am have a problem with 2 of the three coiled spring pins backing out; specifically the one in the slide, and the one near the take down lever.

The one near the take down lever will back out about 3/32" past the frame after about 600 rounds.

So I researched it here and found that a few found that removing the pin, cleaning it, and a bit of blue loctite remedies the situation. Well, I did that, cleaned reallyl well with rubbing alcohol, and a very small amount of loctite (trying to avoid getting it on the plastic) and let it set for a few days.

After shooting another 200 rnds, the pins have visibly moved again.

I called S&W, they say the pins are on backorder for the next 16 weeks!! So I punched out the pins again and cleaned them, measured them (with a digital calibers as a diameter of 3.20mm) and found they are in fact 3mm x 26mm metric coil pins. So... no chance I'll find any of those anywhere. The closest I found was at mcmaster-carr, a 3mm X 30mm pin that I would have to cut and taper myself.

I just re-cleaned and re-inserted the pin in the frame without any loctite this time, so we'll see if its maybe it will stay put this time but I don't see why it would

Is anyone else having this issue? Short of sending it to S&W for 16 weeks, what else should I be trying?

Thanks!

Did you clean the hole when you cleaned the pin?

If you leave oil in the hole the loctite isn't going to work.

I tried the best I could to get all the oil out of the hole, but it is possible that I did not get it all. Good thought. I may need to try the loctite again, but I'm still leary of this since it says right on the loctite bottle not for use on plastic. (enbrittles the plastic according to the website

could you try flaring one end of the stock roll pin by using a tapered punch?

Could this possibly damage the polymer frame when its tapped in? (since one end will be larger than normal for the hole) Obvioulsy you tap it from the flaired end but the entire pin is inside the frame.

The polymer frames may be zytel, which is not attacked by loctite 680.

Can anyone confirm that the M&P22 frame material is in fact zytel?

If it is, I'm just going to slather the pin/hole with the 680 and I'm sure I'll be good to go. (I'd call Smith and Wesson, but the reps seem to know absolutely nothing except if a part is in stock or not)
