My LGS got a couple of these in today and after handling it for about 10 seconds I bought it. First off it felt perfect in hand and I have large hands, but I really like the size. I had a full size M&P22 and always thought it was a tad to large. The Compact feels more like a slightly larger Shield, but the grip is just long enough for a comfortable grip. Also I think since it's made in house now the quality is better than the German made ones.
I tried the trigger with some snap caps and it was crisp and clean at about 5/6 lbs I'd guess. The sights are also much better than the full size M&P22. For anyone who already has the full size M&P22, or for that matter the Shield, you're going to love the new Compact addition.
No wonder there's a shortage of 22LR ammo, with neat new 22 calibre pistols coming out almost daily, people have to feed their new acquisitions.
I'll get a range report out after a couple range sessions.

Does the same adapter from the M&P 22 fit on the compact version? I haven't seen that mentioned in any of the writeups.

I'm just hoping they come out with a non - threaded version...I came across the CA version of the original m&p 22 but did not like the feel of it. This compact looks like it functions much more like all other m&p's

I got my Shield like 3 weeks back and my M&P 22 Compact on Sunday- it's noticeably larger than the Shield.

However it's light Light LIGHT- feels GREAT bec. of the polymer frame w/ alloy slide. It's a great feeling gun. If you have a Shield you will absolutely LOVE This gun, because it's got the same "Oh yeah that's the one" feeling the Shield has. I researched the Shield for a month, then after holding it in my hands for 5 seconds I said, "Ok lets talk price' because I knew it was so great in my hands. Same thing with this M&P22C... great grip features-dimensions and totally awesome gun.

The threaded barrel I believe is a standard size, so for those living in states that allow it, a suppressor should screw right on an adapter. Since I live in Illinois and can't have a can I didn't research it. The thread protector is slightly flared at the muzzle for a tight fit to the end of the slide.
The rear sight is screw adjustable for elevation and windage. Dealer cost from Davidsons is $299 so the street price will vary from dealer to dealer, I paid $359 for mine.
Again this is a very neat little pistol that has to be held to be appreciated. I predict S&W is going to sell a lot of these. Also if bought before I believe December 31'st they have a promotion to send you a 225 end box of Winchester ammo,,, not a bad deal.

No, the thread pitch on under the thread protector is SAE, not metric. I'm hoping, (Silencerco preferably) will come up with one soon.

I read somewhere that the thread pitch is 3/8x24 so you'll need (me too when I buy one) a 3/8x24 to 1/2x28 adapter. Rumor has it Advantage Arms uses that type on their threaded barrel adapters.

I know that the availability of a SiCo adapter will determine whether I buy one of these compact versions or not.

I won't buy a 22 pistol that doesn't have the o-ring engagement threads for my two Spectre II and one Warlock II cans. So far it's just a M&P 22 and a GSG 1911-22 as hosts.

Just downloaded the free ammo offer from S&Ws' website and mailed it in. We'll see how long it takes for the Winchester ammo to arrive. You can't beat free ammunition, thank you Smith & Wesson.

I also filled in the free ammo form - the way I look at it, it's like $50 bucks because while IN REALITY it's only $20, $25 worth of ammo, it would retail for $50 EASY in this market just about any store (You can tell me about how you get your great priced .22LR by the boatload all day long and I will just say, great, most of the country still can't find .22LR regularly and when they do it's completely different pricepoints than what it was and is supposed to be.) .. so for me, I got a very nice price on the M&P22C, plus $50 value in ammo, you can't beat it with a stick.

I just today put a NEBO PROTEC Elite HP190 weapons light on my 22 Compact, it's AWESOME- blinding light, has a strobe feature, fits great, and is only $40 bucks. It's great!!!

Hard to tell, taking it apart I don't believe so. The slide unlike the Walther P22 is high grade aluminum and most of the internals look like steel.

What's the street price on this gun ? Retail is $389.00 .

I just picked one up for $350, 380 out the door with tax and FDLE charge. Will have it in hand on Tuesday. (3 day wait)

This was from a stocking local gun store.... I have no doubt if I waited couple months, it would have been cheaper. (But it felt so good in the hand ;) )

Managed to put my name on the first of these to find it's way to the Kittery Trading Post here in Maine.

This one has a $299.00 price tag. Figured to jump on it before they began to charge full retail. Lol

;)

S&W screwed up majorly on the 15-22 ammo rebate and I was told they learned there lesson. Took over 20 weeks to receive mine and that's because I called S&W to get em in gear. :)

Nathan from S&W told me this rebate is being handled differently and it'll be a much faster process.

Congrats on the purchase! Looking forward to picking mine up tomorrow!

I've seen em all over the place:

Dealer cost is anywhere from $285-$299 depending on distributors.

I've seen em as low as $300-$320 & as high as $399.

I paid $359 for mine and that seems to be the going price at several area shops that have them in stock.
