M&P340.... Disappointed :(

If there is a bright side, OP, it’s that warranty work on one of my revolvers only took five or six weeks this past summer.

Good luck.

Fed Ex tracking info showes that the gun was delivered and signed for by S&W this morning. They told me 6 weeks minimum so we will see...

I sent in a PC 642 with a clocked barrel on 1/10/2022 and was just notified it is shipping and should be in my hands on 2/21. Minor repair but never should have left the shop in the first place.

I hope you get the M&P 340 back and enjoy carrying that little blaster. I have owned a 340PD for a very long time and it has presented no issues and is an absolute joy to pocket carry due to the super light weight. Yes, an once or two does make a difference.

Man I hate to hear this. I have seen many guys having small to large issues with their S&W products the last few years and I think the people they are hiring now must not care about quality control when they do a once over on these guns when they are to leave the factory. It is evident or we would not be having issues with these guns. I know, I know we never hear about the good stuff but it is apparent that there has been allot of instances where this is happening too much in my opinion for the cost of these guns now days.

I am sure they will take care of it but at this point I have my doubts. Good luck and keep us posted...

Every manufacturer of every product on the market has issues at one time or another. Cars get recalled, refrigerators need a new compressor after only 6 months, TVs die the first time you plug them in... no one is spared, and Smith & Wesson is no different.
That said, warranties exist for a good reason. No, S&W will not send you the parts, unless you wish to void that warranty by working on it yourself. I strongly recommend just biting the bullet and sending it in. You'll be happier in the long run. And be sure to emphasize that you want to get that flaw in the finish repaired, too. That's unacceptable! Best of luck to you.

I've had a S&W 360 for a decade. It goes on every backcountry walk weighing 13 oz. I love it and I hate it.

How in the hell did you fire 8 cylinders worth of 357mag? These scandium handguns are known for the most brutal recoil out there. At 13oz there is nothing there to mitigate the recoil. Mine kicks nastier than my 44mag. However, in my one encounter in the backcountry when backed into a corner, I didn't even feel the recoil. My attention was elsewhere at the time.

I use it as my "shoot little, carry often" gun, as it was intended.

This is absolutely the WORST range toy ever invented; but it is the finest walking save-your-life gun there is. This is the sixgun that gets carried and forgotten.

My hand hurts just thinking about firing that little "big beast".
8 cylinders' full ! OUCH !

Prescut
My money is on S&W replacing with a new pistola.

It was definitely jumpy, yet shootable.

I even shot two cylinders full 1 handed! I wanted to see how it would be thinking that it could be the case that my other hand could potentially be holding something else or broken.

Accuracy with one hand was difficult mostly due to the hard trigger pull. I may decide later to lighten up the trigger on it a bit with the mcarbo trigger springs. I want to break the gun in and get more trigger time before I decide to do that though... Ive hear the triggers on these smoothen out over time.

Don't know where you got 6-10 mo turnaround. Seriously doubt that will be the case if you return it. Might just get a new gun rather than a repaired one, Ruger probably would. Don

I got the revolver back today.

I haven't shot it yet but Smith did replace the broken parts and the barrel shroud free of charge and they paid for shipping both ways.

A couple things I noticed is that the black coloring on the new barrel shroud does not match perfectly with the rest of the gun and the white lettering is dull compared to the original one.

I don't want to be too picky, maybe after a few cleanings and wiping some oil on it the color will even out....

You are not being too picky. $1000 gun should have been like new when you got it back. Call them and have them make this right. Otherwise just shoot the heck out of it and have fun.

Hey guys,

I'm new here but not new to S&W revolvers.

So far I've got a
-Model 29 44 mag
-Model 19 Comp Carry
-TRR8

I just picked up my 1st J frame. An M&P 340 that I waited for almost 2 years to find one in stock....

I've had it for about 7 days now and the first time I shot it was yesterday and I had a pretty bad issue...

1st of all I want to say that when I got the gun I noticed that there was a blemish where they installed the pin that retains the front centering pin detent. (See picture) I figured it wasn't such a huge deal, the guy who was assembling it must have slipped or over drove the pin in at some point and than pushed it back out from the other side. Not great for a $1000 gun, but I'll accept it...

2nd thing I noticed was that the blast shield was loose above the barrel. I was able to wiggle it out, spread it a tiny bit and put in back and. No problem now, nice and tight!

3rd thing I noticed was that when I spun the cylinder there was a slight wobble in the ejection rod. Not terrible but noticable.

You should grab a vintage pinned (pre 1981) J frame on Gunbroker. I think you'd be much happier. There are many out there for decent prices. I think they are much better quality than what they are currently putting out. It will be made out of steel too. :)

Go shoot your gun. After a few cilynders full you will forget all of your past problems. In my opinion, I want it to go bang every time I pull the trigger and slight color differences or lettering issues aren't important to me. It's a carry gun not a safe queen.

The barrel shroud color is not an issue for me. The white lettering is a plus that it is not there IMO.

Sorry for all your troubles, but upon my original inspection, I would not have taken possession of the gun. The improperly installed pin would had driven me nuts. Just my .02
