After 5 weeks of indoor range time with this new pistol, I finally conceded the front fiber optic sight had to go. No one can tell me why the 4.25" Pro model has factory night sights, yet the 5" barrel has the FO. So thanks to their decision, this great-grand father had to part with $100. for night sights. 2 range trips and my shooting has improved dramatically.
So if you find difficulty with the front FO sight, ditch it for a night sight.----Jim

I think it followed the logic of "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time." I bet if you offer it up for sale here then you can recoup some of the money.

It's my limited understanding that for IDPA, a fiber optic front sight is currently the hot setup. That would be a good reason for the 5" (which was made for that game) to have one. IDPA is not a pinpoint accuracy game.

I have fiber optic front sights on a couple of my revolvers, and for fast and furious shooting in less than bright light, I think they're the bomb.

You realize that the 5" is a competition gun right? That's why it has a FO front sight.

The bigger question is why would anyone put night sights on a competition gun...?

Doing that right now, no takers on my sights yet in the classifieds.:(

Because they want to? Thats no different than asking why sombody would compete with a gun for self defense? If that .75" length of barrel says it cant be used for self defense..please dont tell the 1911 crowd!

The sight picture for night sights and front FO sights is identical (level the sights, center the front sight), but it is true some novices get confused by FO sights and try to sight with the dot.

Sounds like a "poster boy" case for "try before you buy."
Like my neighbor who bought an "off road" pickup for commuting, and complains about the noisy nobby tires. The furthest off road he gets is his driveway.
