M&P for IDPA
For the OP, I have shot IDPA using the M&P and the M&P pro. Both are fine. If I were going to use the standard model I would consider a trigger job (I did my own with good results but the APEX trigger is quite nice). I used the Pro for Bianchi cup one year and did okay in production class.
I strongly encourage the 9mm, and with either model, shooting SSP. I doubt you will notice the difference with barrel lengths but the Pro trigger and fiber optic front sight are worthy upgrades.
