There are two LGSs in my area that have them, so they are available, just got to hunt around for them.

LGS has two of them, saint louis mo.
They can't come out fast enough... that way those that are buying the 9mm just to get their hands on the Shield will stop and leave them for those of us that really want a 9mm!

Just to clarify, the OP asked about the .40 Shield, you two have seen the .40s in your gun shops??

Yes, I took my 70 year old neighbor to the gun store. They had two 9mm . We both bought one in 9mm. The next day i took her to the local range to shoot it,Bullseye shooting range, Saint Louis Missouri.

They have two of them for $475 each.
The S&W rep for North Florida area said first part of May availability for .40 Shield at LGS.
One of the sales team at Harry Beckwith Guns south of Gainesville claimed to see pallets of .40 and 9 Shields ready for shipping at S&W in Massachusetts. A straight shooter, verbally at least, I believe him.
