Ordered a little Shield in 40. I'm pretty excited! Which is weird when you consider how old this model is, but it was hard to come by, and who doesn't love a "build?"

I know what you're thinking. "Seems a little late in the game to become a 357Sig fan." Or a Shield fan lol. You aren't lying! But life sometimes has a weird way of telling you what you need, and it turns out I need to be using 357Sig for carry. That's not up for debate. I have all kinds of .380's and 9's. I understand the pros and cons of all these caliber's. The caliber isn't up for debate. The build is though.

For those of you who want to follow along as I build the gun, here we go. Sight unseen, so far I've ordered:

The Gun - there's no pocket 357s. This is the closest thing I've seen that I'd be able to convert. Everything is going to 9! Anyway, it's got history, and that makes me confident. I had to buy it online though. No one is supplying it!

The barrel - RemSport 40-357 conversion. The barrel is threaded, so it takes the barrel from a 3.1", up to 3.6". I'm not going to lie, I love the idea of a longer barrel, but who knows how it'll look.

Holster: always love me a Vedder holster. I got an iwb. If everything works out, I might try a pocket holster. I love my Bodyguard 2.0 in my pocket, but it's super small/light.

Things I'd consider but haven't ordered yet:

Hogue grip
Apex Trigger
Sights

I really want adjustable sights. I understand that adjustable sights on a pocket gun might seem crazy, but now that the barrel is 3.6", that's longer than my G33 in 357Sig, and that thing is a tack driver. Truely.

I can't figure out if Novak sighs do elevation or not. I'd love a set if they do. Then there's LPA, but I can't find any in stock.

And that's it so far. Just beginning. Pretty excited. Let me know what you would do. Unless what you would do is buy another 9 lol! Thanks gents!

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable shooting .357 SIG out of a Shield. Unlike other M&P Series Pistols, the Shield was never officially chambered in .40 S&W, and while that might have been simply because other M&Ps in .357 SIG weren't selling very well for them, it's still an awfully small pistol for such a hot round.
Besides, the M&P40 Shield already kicks hard enough as is without converting it to a more powerful cartridge.

Honestly, I skipped my Shield in favor of the more robust M&P40c when I decided I wanted a compact carry pistol with the capability to shoot .357 SIG.

That's pretty awesome! No question. And a better looking gun in my opinion too, if that even matters. It's probably a better option overall.
