I got an email from CDNN selling an M&P40 M2.0 FDE slide.
I'd like to put that on my 357Sig M&P that has a 357Sig barrel.

I read (or I made it up) that the barrels are same diameter and area therefor exchangeable.
Anybody know fer shure?

Is your .357 a 2.0? If it's a 1.0, the slide won't work without mods to your frame (mainly the slide lock).

Regardless of version, you can just get a .40 barrel for it. Even the mags are the same.

The CDNN slide is also stripped so you'll need other parts to complete it.

Thanks for the response, Saudade.
I want to keep the gun chambered in 357Sig. From what you say, I gather I can use the FDE slide on my gun. Version matches.

Slide may "fit", but it says it is for the 4.95" barrel...

Cheers!

P.S. Just an FYI, Brownells has the 2.0 (and 1.0!) slide rebuild kit in stock for $40!'

I have never seen an M&P 2.0 in 357 SIG...

Good point! You would have to get a company, like Barsto, to make you a .357 Sig barrel for the 2.0 slide. Not sure if the .357 1.0 barrel drops into the 2.0 slide.

For the longslide version, yes. The full size 4.25" M&P 1.0 and 2.0 barrels should be 100% interchangable, as should any conversion (i.e., 40 S&W to 9mm) barrels.

Cheers!

Just a(nother?) Heads Up: the CDNN M&P 40 2.0 slide is, indeed, designed for a 5" barrel, and requires the 2.0's 5" Recoil Guide Assembly, a 2.0 extractor and an upper receiver rebuild kit to complete.

Brownells has such a rebuild kit and it is good for both the M&P 1.0 & 2.0 versions.

The slide is beautiful, BTW!

Cheers!

P.S. Don't ask me how I came to this conclusion...

KKM makes (IMO reasonably priced) .357 Sig barrels for all flavors of M&P's. I got an extended / threaded barrel for my 5" FS .40 full size. It rocks.

Thanks for the Heads Up! Been looking for one for my 3.6" Compact 1.0 for over a year!

Cheers!

I bought a KKM 3.5" barrel in the .357 Sig persuasion for my 2.0 40cal. Shot it last weekend and everything worked perfectly. Zero FTFs. The barrel is the only part that needs to be changed. So I keep the .40 cal. barrel in the gun bag, together with a couple of mags full of .40 cal ammo and I'm good to go.

Only caution: the M&P 2.0 .40cal magazines are occasionally difficult to find. I like to take 5 or 6 loaded magazines to the range, so I loaded up on these mags when I finally found them (that was last year - they may be more broadly available today).

I did exactly the same with my 4" M&P 2.0 .40 cal. That gun also runs flawlessly with the .357 Sig barrel/rounds.

I called the KKM guys before ordering. The rep spent time with me to discuss my questions, etc. He then made a barrel that fit my needs...much better than buying over the internet only to later discover what I bought wasn't what I wanted/expected.

I thought the 1.0 and 2.0 mags were the same?? I have several for my 2.0 and have never seen any difference in those that I have found.

Mine was originally the 5" which got a KKM 5 1/2" threaded barrel in .357 Sig, and a compact slide in .40 in case I want a hi cap EDC :-)

The KKM dropped right in and a bonus of KKM barrels is they work in 1.0 AND 2.0 M&P's.

Oh, and yes I hacked off the silly rail... with the compact barrel the rail was very uncomfortable AIWB whilst seated on my motorcycle.

Shot the 2.0 5" FDE slide from CDNN with a Storm Lake 5" 9mm conversion barrel, the Ed Brown M&P slide kit from Brownells, a 2.0 extractor and a 2.0 5" recoil spring assembly for the 1st time yesterday at the range: function was fine, accuracy (with standard M&P steel 3-dot sights) was EXCELLENT!:D

Already had the barrel & sights, so, for about $150 I have a new 9mm top end for my M&P 40s. Now, it is getting my friend the machinist to mill the notch on the left side of the 2.0 slide so the 1.0 frame's slide stops will function.

Cheers!

KKM 357 SIG barrel for my M&P 40C was shipped yesterday!:D

Range report to follow in the next week, or so...?

Cheers!

Well, the. KKM 357 SIG 3.58" barrel is absolutely beautiful and shot 8 different mid-range reloads with nary a hitch. Most were a bit low and to the left a hair shooting freehand at 25', but two loads with Lehigh 115 & 90gr Xtreme Defenders shot almost to the point of aim. There was also no real difference I could tell re: recoil vs. the 40 S&W rounds I then shot after a barrel (and AMMO!) switch. I can now shoot 40s, 9mms and 357 SIG in my 1.0 Compact!

Next trip will be some hotter 357 SIG loads, but I don't anticipate anything but continued joy! Thanks (again), to gnappi for the heads-up!

Cheers!
