Yesterday I picked up my new M&P 45c. I ordered it without the thumb safety and it arrived without the thumb safety, without a lock, and without a magazine safety. I brought my range bag along and while sitting in the car, field-stripped and lubed it up enough to run it to the range for a box of reloaded lead round-noses.

It was not too UNcomfortable to shoot. I was able to reacquire the target and fire follow-up shots fairly quickly. I didn't save the target because I was at a busy public range but I could see 3" groups on the 4" Sight-N-C blocks target at 25 yards. I used the smallest size grip and a box of bullets left me with just minor carpal tunnel tingling for about an hour.

The trigger felt a little gritty and the rear spring was a little squeaky but I took it home and really gave it a good cleaning and re-lubing and the squeaks and gritty trigger seemed to settle down. Another range time or two ought to work it in very well. I find the slide easy for me to pull back to the lock position. It fits great in this Don Hume IWB holster. The shortened grip helps concealment. It's not an uncomfortable gun to carry at all.

I like it a lot. It was worth the wait.

Here is my carry set-up and a comparison to the full-size M&P9.

ATTA WAY!
Carpal tingle may be helped by wearing a shooting glove with a silicone insert between the thumb knuckle and index finger 1st knuckle. The ones that are trimmed to expose the thumb and index finger at the tips allow a true trigger feel.
I'll await your second outing report, where you won't have the throngs. It sounds like it did well even though it was it's first pass? But good shooters usually have little trouble the first time out with quality guns!

I carried it around all day today IWB in jeans and didn't even notice it. It doesn't feel much larger than a j-frame. I was even able to eat two slices of pizza while wearing it. ;)

Does this mean the 'lil one you showed may be replaced as a carry gun?

That'll be the summer carry gun. I wore a light sweater under a light jacket today and the 45c was not visible. But when we stopped out for pizza and I took the jacket off. After we ate I walked to the bathroom and I felt like I had Quato (Total Recall) sticking out of my side.

Thanks for posting that Barb!
Gives a good feel for what can be expected recoil wise.
(Did you note the unintentional bobble at the beginning of the shot string,
caused by what yours wisely didn't come equipped with?)

Congratulations, I love my full sized, and have thought about getting a compact version to replace my Glock 32 (357 Sig).
