I used my M&P9 in an IDPA match today.
When I got home, I noticed that the rear sight was (and still is) incredibly loose. I can slide it back and forth with considerable ease.

While this explains why I was shooting to the right quite a bit, I am not sure how it became loose.

Has anyone had a similar experience?
Does anyone know what size hex screw this is? I have tried all of the ones that I have, and cannot find a fit. I don't want to strip the screw.

Regards,
Chuck

Chuck, I don't remember right off what size they are but we should have some at the shop, email me your mailing address and I'll send you a couple.

Your slide needs to go back to the factory. The rear sight should NOT be held in only by the little screw. The dovetails on S&W sights are notoriously tight, and the sights are put in with a machine. If yours is that loose, then the dovetail is out of spec. Call S&W, they will send a return shipping label prepaid and you can send it in for a fix.

Kend, Thank you for the kind offer. It is most appreciated. I was a little shocked to find out that it was so incredibly loose.

I still managed a seventh place in accuracy with this little pistol, and second in my group (SSP).

Hopefully S&W has a very quick turnaround.

Thanks!
Chuck
