Loving this M&P9. first handgun I've owned in a long time that has been perfect out of the box. Seeing all these threads about trigger jobs has got me thinking I may benefit from it. My M&P9 is the standard one, not the PRO version. I am not one to "tinker" with stuff so I will admit to being a bit intimidated by the thought of it. APEX seems to be the trigger of choice around here. Specifically, which trigger is the one I need to be looking at and on a 1-10 (10 being the HARDEST THING YOU'VE EVER ATTEMTED) scale how difficult is it to complete without completely screwing something up? I almost hate to even mess with the M&P, but the trigger could use some work.

I suggest you view the videos (just search for apex on youtube or follow the links from the blogg section of apex site)

You can get a feel for whats involved. Pay attentions to their warnings of small parts...I lost one, but apex did provide me a new part free of charge.

I did the DIY "burwell" on my M&P 45 compact

It turned out very well

I also did a Apex placement on a friends M&P who didnt want to shape and polish his sear and USB

Get the correct tools (a small hammer and punch) a small vise with rubberized clamps, and you are ready to go

The Apex job took me 15 minutes, the DIY job, about an hour and a half

The apex job is EASY, just watch the video

Be careful of the spring under the sear. It can jump

Scale of one to ten, one being easiest. On the Apex, i would rate it a 2
On the full DIY, i would say a 6

After shooting 700 plus rounds, and the trigger not really getting any smoother I did the Apex kit. Having never taking the gun apart except for a field strip cleaning, I had worries about doing it myself. Since a gunsmith was going to charge $50 I decided to give it a go. I watched all the videos many times and read many posts, on this forum and others, as well as the Apex web site. Piece of cake, used my sears workmate for a vice, (covering the jaws in painters tape), using a wide straight edge screw driver for a drift (covering the end in painters tape), sight came out easy. The provided tool helps. Changing the sear was the hardest since I have the thumb safety it was tough getting it back in, Changed the trigger spring with out removing the assembly. Got it all back done in about three hour hours. Shoots great, trigger is smoother less travel, but I am waiting for them to make the RAM for the models with safetys. One thing tho, it took a while to get used to the new trigger pull it is lighter!
