I've been trying to find the floor plates to "convert" a few FS 9 mags to my 9C. I know they fit but I don't want them sticking out. I do have a few xgrips to use at the range but would prefer a few extra "shorties". The floor plates from Midway have been overdue on backorder since BCE.

I finally decided to call S&W customer support. After a reasonably short hold time, I got through. While the guy was checking, we got disconnected. I called back in and was on hold when my call-waiting indicated S&W was calling back. It was the CS rep!! They're shipping me a few floorplates no charge!!

Now that's service!!!

I'll update this when they show up. Hopefully in week or so (since I'm in CA).

I did the same thing for when I use a 9mm barrel in my 40c. The CS rep was very helpful, but it took between 2-3 months to actually get them. They must have used a very slow shipping service :)

What did you order from them? Just the floor plates or entire mags. The guy I spoke to indicated they had some in stock. I have them backordered on Midway but it's been months already.

I just got the floor plates. I had lots of full sized 10 round 9mm mags from my full size M&P, so I just needed to convert some of them to compact mags. When they finally came it worked great.

Don't be to disappointed when the compact floor plates don't fit on your full size mag. The full size floor plate slides over tabs that point in. The compact floor plate slides over tabs that point out.

Nope, Mine point in. I have compared the bodies. They're the same.

I bought some of those for my 17 rounders to be a little slimmer and not print so much. The little metal plate at the bottom is different too...

Yep, they're different on my FS and Compact too. I accidentally put the compact floor plate catch in the full size body and it was a PITA to get out.

I live in CA so the 10 round mags may be a bit different from other states.

Here's a comparison of the 2 mags. I partially slid the floor plates off for a better view.

Oh, and as far as I can tell, the base catch pads (metal plate), springs and followers are the same.

OK, so after some research here's what's going on. The type of finger rest base plate that I have is listed for both the 40c and the 9c. Part3 278360000. The extended base plate that you have is only listed only under the 9c and will not fit the 40c. Part# 392940000. Apparently S&W uses the same bodies in the 9 but different bodies in the 40 (meaning the was the base plates mount to the body). Here are two pics of the two different types of extended fringed rest base plates. I apologize for the confusion.
