The barrel seems like it may fit a bit wierd in the slide of my M&P9C. With the slide in battery and looking at the barrel from the muzzle end, there is a decent sized gap at the 12 o'clock position, is this something that all of the M&P autos have, or am I possibly dealing with a machining issue? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes. My M&OP40c is the same. I suspect its that way because when the slide operates the barrel has to drop down. It would bind without that gap at the top. Just my thoughts on guess. I don't have anything official on that.

Although I never really noticed before, my 9c is exactly as you describe. I guess it's normal, try checking out some M&P's at the Funshop to be sure.

Pberry has it right. If that releif wasn't there the barrel wouldn't be able to cam down and unlock while comming out of battery without jamming up.

Normal and has to do with lock up.

My 9c has the gap and my 9 FS doesn't.
I'm not concerned. They both go BANG and hit what I'm aiming at. (When I do my part,
