Ok, this happened about a month ago, after shooting a 300 round session.

The weapon starting returning to battery after shooting, in slow motion. As in you could easily see the sliding returning forward after shooting. Eventually, it stopped feeding.

Cleaned it, racked it a bunch, it racks just fine.

Today, after about 100 rounds same thing.

As I sit here, I wonder if it is one magazine not feeding right, and the slide dragging on a bullet.

Or is it the spring under the barrel, getting weak.

The weapon is just over a year old, with a about 2K rounds in it. I am calling Smith tommorow, what do you all think.

Dirty ammo or improper lubrication are my first thoughts. Maybe a bent guide rod. Do you shoot a lot of +P ammo? 2K rounds of mostly +P may have weekend the return spring.

There's gotta be gunk in the slots of the slide. Or under the rails on the locking block or sear block. Check the gun for clear and no magazine. Then look it over real good. REAL good. Also check the slide where the barrel goes through. Somewhere it's dirty.

Let us know what you find please.

What about the extractor. I see that Apex sells an improved M&P extractor. Perhaps the flange of the round is getting hung up as it tries to move up into the extractor

lubed very well.
First thought is ecessive lubrication.

M&P pistols are fully lubricated with a single drop of oil at the key points and wil seriously gum up quickly with excessive lube.
I've "fixed" more than one by cleaning out the excessive lube.
RTFM.

locking lug

Pay extra close attention to oil/gunk build up in the barrel locking lug and the bottom smooth surface under the feed ramp. That can really slow everything down.
